Have you ever tried to eat in any Samgyupsal restaurants? In the Philippines, I think it has been a trend since way before the pandemic happened, and it was widely influenced by Korean dramas. Who wouldn’t love the hottest stars and actors who are eventually loved by the viewers? Since then, I have been curious about what makes Samgyupsal famous.
So, after long years of waiting, I finally got the chance to eat at Samgyupsal restaurant for real. I cannot deny the fact that it was actually my first time, aside from the home Samgyupsal we did a few months ago. Since my brother asked me to eat with him last Monday, I grabbed the opportunity; thus it’s free as well. He told me the choices of restaurants available near us, and I picked the restaurant in Kawit, Cavite.
The Place
The Olympic of Samgyupsal was located at Robertson Plaza Kawit along Centennial Road. The location was advantageous because it was directly in front of the plaza, making it easily visible to shoppers. The place isn't that cozy, but I am comfortable enough on their soft, huge, foamy benches. It was actually huge, which is perfect for family size and groups of friends, which can accommodate around 8 if the body type is slim. Then you can imagine the rest.

Food and Personnel Services
Before you enter the restaurant, you will be asked by the staff what kind of promo you will avail yourself of. There are plenty of choices, but we chose the P499 per head that has unlimited chicken and pork with 15 kinds of side dishes. Since we are only two, the table we have is quite huge for both of us. When we reached our table, there were side dishes prepared on the table with lettuce. The staffs are very approachable, and they will entertain you well. The staff who helped us were humorous and pretty.
The Experience
Since it was my first time eating Samgyupsal in the onsite restaurant, I asked my brother about the right thing to do. I was not aware of what to do aside from cooking the pork and meat. After 30 minutes of cooking, I noticed that the pork I was cooking was not getting brown. Then, when I checked the fire, there was no fire, meaning the butane gas was drained already. It was quite funny because I didn’t notice it at first.
Honestly, eight of the side dishes were unfamiliar to me. I kept asking my brother what it tasted like, whether it was salty, spicy, bitter, or sour. I felt like I was a kid randomly asking the elderly what things were. We started to eat after we cooked two batches of meat, and it was so incredible. My mouth was full, but I had to control my eating because my tummy was easily getting bloated. Breathe in, breathe out.
This was one of the combinations I made. I put the lettuce as a cover, then I added the pork, chicken, cucumber, kimchi, and sautéed mung bean sprouts. As wide as my mouth could be stretched, I ate the whole thing in my mouth. It was satisfying!
Our table was getting messy over time. The oil was splattered in some areas of the table, and some liquids from side dishes were scattered as well. Who cares? I was enjoying and savoring my time there. I do not know when I will have the chance to do this for free.
The Talks
I had a good time. We had a heart-to-heart talk, which happens quite often, but this time we talked about love. He was actually in his late 20s, so it was the right time for him to step up. He had had no girlfriend for a decade. The start of our conversation was good, smooth, and shocking at some points. I was enlightened by his insight and wisdom about love.
The Recommendation
The Olympic of Samgyupsal was worth recommending, and they have amazing services. The food they offered was really good, but three of their side dishes were not suitable for my taste. I don’t like the taste of alcohol. I think if you were going to any Samgyupsal restaurant, be sure you have extra clothes if you were going to another place or meeting someone because the smell stinks a lot. So far, I would give this restaurant an 8.5/10 rating.
