Hello there, Eatslance here, I recently shared with you my Roberto's Siopao experience, which I can honestly say was the best siopao I've ever eaten and is located in the City of Love, Iloilo City. This time, I'll be sharing with you Iloilo's famous "Batchoy." A noodle soup made with pork offal, crushed pork cracklings, chicken stock, beef loin, and round noodles is known as batchoy. It is often referred to as La Paz Batchoy since its origins may be traced to the district of La Paz in Iloilo City, Philippines. As I begin to share my Iloilos Blog # 2 with you, sit back and relax.
For me, Iloilo is the best city in the Philippines. I was born and raised in Cebu Province, so I'm used to the city's hustle and bustle. As I get older, I'd prefer a serene location that is also convenient. And I discovered it in Iloilo City, the city of love. I went for a walk and wandered around the city of Iloilo. Everything that is available in Cebu City is also available in Iloilo. Malls, hotels, restaurants, cinemas, street cuisine, and even nightclubs can be found there. Iloilo, on the other hand, has a smaller population and bigger roadways. I have the impression that I am in a developed city that is not overly urbanized. In comparison to Cebu City, Iloilo has a fairly low crime rate. Their city is likewise incredibly clean. I went for a walk around 5 a.m. to see if there were any rubbish cans and to see if there were any street sweepers, but I was surprised to see how clean the streets were even at that hour. These are some of the reasons why I adore Iloilo City.
Because Batchoy is well-known and originated in Iloilo, many restaurants serve it as their main course, and many people make their own batchoy for their companies. But I was fortunate to have a friend accompany me on my first batchoy attempt in Iloilo. We headed to Netong's Batchoy, which is located near Smallville in the Atria shopping complex. The environment is really clean and tranquil. When we got there, it was a weekday at 2 p.m., and there were very few customers.
THE MENU
Batchoy comes in three flavors: Mega, Extra, and Super. They can also serve batchoy made entirely of beef. I chose the extra because I had already eaten lunch and was still fairly full; all I wanted to do was test their batchoy. Puto, bread, egg, and rice are also available. Linaga, Pata, and Dinuguan are their specialties. I also order one serving of Puto. Their drinks include soda, iced tea, and mineral water, and I order one ice tea.
BATCHOY
Finally, the well-known and well-liked batchoy is right in front of me. This is the time I've been waiting for. They have condiments set out on the table for you to use in your batchoy. To make it more appetizing, I added a small amount of soy sauce.
The batchoy is fantastic. I'm not sure how they prepared the soup. As far as I'm aware, the soup was simmered for a longer period of time in order to produce a flavorful broth. However, their batchoy is excellent. It's no surprise that Batchoy has been a household name in Ilo-ilo for so long.
Puto
I also tried their Puto. It is a steamed rice cake created in the Philippines from slightly fermented rice dough. It can be eaten on its own or with a variety of savory foods. Puto also refers to a variety of indigenous steamed cakes, including some that aren't made with rice. It's a kakanin subtype.
The Puto were extremely soft and tasty. I've finished the full serving. Each serving has 4 pieces.
Netong's Restaurant can deliver and cater for every occasion. They were rewarded as 2018 Top Choice Authentic Lapaz Batchoy and 2018 Specialty Restaurant Ilonggo Cuisine.
I'm grateful to a friend who came with me to experience Ilo-ilo's batchoy for the first time. I strongly advise you to try it whenever you visit Ilo-ilo, especially if it is your first visit. Every time we go to Ilo-ilo, this is one of the things we look forward to. Ilo-ilo is, without a doubt, my favorite city. This is my second Ilo-ilo blog. I'll see you at the next one.
