I went on an another local liquor store a week ago, and I found some amazing wines. I had planned to just buy one, but it became more. I have no plans to drink them soon (one reason is because I got covid, haha), but luckily they don't get bad over time.
Don't get me wrong for ordering a lot and buying a lot of wine, I usually always share it with an another person and never when kids are around! It's important to me that you know, because misuse of alcohol is bad for your health and the people you are surrounded with.
Hexamer - Meddersheimer Rheingrafenberg Riesling Spätese Trocken 2020
I didn't have any plans to buy this one, but I had seen some good reviews of it and couldn't fint it that other liquor stores had this white wine. It's produced in Nahe in Germany, and I really like that
area for wines. Trocken mean it's dry too, and that is really important for me. It's rated to be 90% match with my earlier wines, but this have been wrong before so I guess I just have to try it to figure out.
Bread & Butter - Pinot Noir (2019)
I have never (as I can recall) tried anything produced in USA. I'm going on a roadtrip to California in 2023, and I want to prepare myself on this taste of wines. I am really excited to try out this red wine. I drank it this Friday with a great pork meal, with a friend of mine. It tasted like the name, butter, oak and vanilla. There was almost non tannin, so I think this wine is amazing for the new beginners of red wine. But I don't regret buying it.
Veralda - Ambra Malvazija Istarska 2019
I bought this wine because I thought it was the 2018 version. This version is rated 3,6, and the 2018 version is rated 4.3 on my Vivino app. It's a huge different, and I hope it's not that of a bummer. It's an orange wine from Croatia, and I'm still excited to try it because I haven't tried any Croatian wines before. I also got recommended an another orange wine from the same country, but I can't recall it. I really hope I like this wine better than the match of 67%. I love that it has the taste of orange, orange peel and citrus, but also apricot, peach and apple.
Ricossa - Barbera Appassimento 2018
It's usually never wrong to buy a wine from Pimonte in Italy. I have no plans to when I'm going to drink it, but all my red wines are usually drank with a good meal. Pasta, Veal, Pork are some of the good matches of this wine, and we just got some great meat by my parents I hope I can pop this bottle to. But my boyfriend doesn't drink, so I guess I have to find an another occasion to it because I can't drink a whole bottle by myself.
Gross-Einternheim - Lorelei Riesling Sekt Brut 2019
I actually bought this 9 months ago. The reason why I haven't drank it already is because I tasted it before (because my friend bought it) and I wasn't that pleased as a well know sommelier said it tasted. This just shows that even the pros favorites doesn't always matches your tasting profile. But I hope with some time that I would like it. Maybe by have it stored in some years the taste will grow? This is actually a sparkling wine, and it's not often seen in my "cellar". It's mostly for celebrations. But I actually bought myself a champagne cork/stopper that works so good! And I can drink the wine three days later and it still have the bubbles! If you like sparkling wine, this is highly recommended.
Some products I recommend to get the best wine experience:
- Number one, the wine glasses. Of course.
- And also important is a decanter or a wine aerator. Wine aerator is cheeper and it makes the RED wine open and you will get a fuller taste when it's aired. It's a reason why the bottle must stay open for a while before you drink it!
- A champagne stopper. This is only recommended if you actually drink sparkling wine on a "daily basis". This makes (as written earlier) the bubbles stay in shape for up to three days, and you doesn't need to drink it all at once.
- If you drink a lot of wine, you definitely need a wine stopper/wine pump. This makes the same sense as the champagne stopper, but you can pump out the air of the wine bottle so it lasts longer. If you use it you can drink your wine up to 7 days after you first opened it.
