Hello hivers
Let's continue eating 😋
5 next traditional Albanian dishes
1 – Petulla – Fried Dough
Fried dough is a famous meal served all across the Balkans.
Fried dough is typically served in a variety of ways in Albania. Petulla is typically consumed as a snack or as part of a meal.
Throughout Tirana and Durres, you may locate food stalls that provide fried dough with your choice of topping.
Chocolate, strawberry jam, shredded Kackavall cheese, and ketchup are among the available toppings.
In most Albanian families, fried dough is quick and simple to prepare. They are most commonly eaten with feta cheese or honey.
Greek yogurt with garlic is another less common yet wonderful topping (mostly in the northern region).
Albanian fried dough is thicker than doughnuts but has the same crispy surface and soft middle.
2– Flija – Baked Crepes
This dish is popular in northern Albania and Kosovo.
It is a basic meal that is commonly prepared in Albanian households or served in local traditional eateries.
Flija is a simple crepe-like meal with a crispy top and a softer bottom.
Flija's excellent flavor is due to the use of butter. The meal is typically served with fresh dairies, such as cheese or yogurt.
3– Jani me Fasule – White Bean Soup
White bean soup has long been a favorite dish in Albanian cuisine.
During the Albanian famine, this was one of the most often prepared foods since it was the cheapest to produce and also the most satisfying. Even when the hunger was over, white bean soup remained popular.
The soup is composed of tomato sauce, onions, and white beans and is typically served with pickled vegetables or Greek yogurt.
The majority of Albanians consume this soup with kulac, which is home-baked bread.
4– Sarme – Cabbage Rolls Filled with Meat and Rice
Traditional dishes such as sarme may be found in many Eastern European and Balkan nations. However, each country's version of this meal is distinct.
Sarme is predominantly produced in Albania's northwestern area. It's nothing more than cabbage rolls loaded with rice and shredded pork.
These cabbage rolls may be cooked on their own or combined with other ingredients to make a stew. Sarme is typically paired with yogurt or dhalle.
It is usually prepared by the elder generation, and it is a traditional food that is gradually becoming extinct.
This dish is still available in several northern Albanian traditional restaurants.
6– Raki – Traditional Alcoholic Beverage
Raki is a popular alcoholic beverage in the region. This is because Albania is not well-known for its other alcoholic beverages, such as wine or cognac. Even though raki was brought from Turkish cuisine, it is still a popular beverage among Albanians because the way they do it is different and stronger
Raki has an average alcohol content of 40% and may be served with a variety of foods.
It's typically served with meat-based meals.
Coffee is another way to enjoy raki. Many individuals pair their morning coffee with a tiny glass of raki, which is thought to offer several health advantages.
Until next time I wish you all the best and healthy life ...
