Suya also known as tsire or chinchinga is a popular street food that have it's origin from the Hausaland(Northern Nigeria and Southern Niger) prepared with local seasoning and now a food across West Africa.
It's too popular that ever the kids at home will have to tell an elderly one going out to get while come. Aside being a street popular food it can also be prepared at home with any protein of your choice; beef, chicken, shrimp, fish and some others.
I have to learn how to make this because my mom likes, infact everyone around me. I was left behind either. But today we're having some visitors and i have to make it for them, but this time with chicken.
Ingredients for my chicken suya
- 2kg of chicken
- 2 cubes pf seasoning
- 1 medium size of onion
- 20g of fresh pepper
- 1 ts of salt
- 100g of suya spice
- 50g of suya pepper
Step one
Wash the onion and pepper. Cut and pound respectively.
Step two
Wash the meat, season well with pepper, onion, salt, seasoning cubes and the pounded pepper. Put it on fire and allow it to cook for twenty minutes.
Step three
Scoop it out into the sieve and allow it to dry up. Introduce the suya spice and pepper. Then put it in a pre heated over of low heat.
Allow it for minutes then check so i doesn't get burnt. Bring it out in ten to fifteen minutes if you don't like too dried up meat, but if you do it can stay for close to thirty minutes and then you bring it out. And it's ready. You can serve along with any food or drink of choice.
