It's been ages since I made a cooking blog and now I kinda miss it. That's why for today we will cook again, experimental cooking to be exact HAHA. This will gonna be fun!

Today we will make wheat gluten meat. I've seen this recipe on Facebook, TikTok, and even on YouTube multiple times and I wanted to try it so badly. Here is a video made by Emmy made from YouTube.
Before we start lets have first and take a look of the background of this recipe. This washed flour (aka WTF -wash the flour) method of making meat substitutes has been published in vegetarian cookbooks for over 60 years, but the origins date back to 6th century China. Source
Since it is my first time I don't know if I can make it successfully. But who knows, in cooking everything is trial and error. Okay! So let's start because I'm getting excited and I can't make it any longer!
The most important thing for this recipe is flour 'All-purpose flour'. The steps are just easy. I think everyone can follow it easily. First, I put my Flour in a mixing bowl then I add water. I Formed it into dough and knead it for a few minutes. Then I rest it for an hour.
After an hour here it is, the moment of truth! It's time to wash the dough with water. To be honest it's kinda messy to wash because water is everywhere. I washed it multiple times until the water becomes a little bit clear. At first, I thought it is a failure because it won't come together but then I just trust the process and hmmm... I think it works 😄. In the end, I now have this one. It looks kinda weird.
Now let's proceed to the next step. Next is season it with salt and pepper, but I forgot to add pepper 😅. My bad HAHA. Supposed to be I needed to twirl it like a rope but then I got too excited and I skipped that part. But I moved on from that and I think it will not have a big effect on the finished product.
And now lets go on cooking! First heat the pan then put some oil. Put the washed dough and fry it on both sides until golden brown. Once it's done I put some beef stock supposed to be it's vegetable stock but we dont have one, then cover it up and wait until the beef stock evaporated. And now it's done!
The final part, the tasting part! When I take a piece of it, it was so soft but a little chewy maybe because it need more time to cook 🧐. And to be honest it is a little bit salty and I know that it's my fault HAHA. Also based on the video the one that she made had a meaty texture and mine is not HAHA and that is what I'm looking for. But still it's pretty good.
All in all, it was amazing of course and I had a lot of fun in making it! I'm gonna try this again and make sure I will not miss out on every step of making it 🤣. If I will rate this I will give my cook a 6 out of 10 this time.
That's all for now!
