I am a person who loves sour food so much whether it's fruit, sauces, cooked food, or ceviches made from vegetables or seafood. So today I'm going to share one of my favorite foods whenever I drop by downtown.
Saang shell or in English it was named conch shell also known as spider shells or scorpion conch. In Cebu, you can see this sold in many stalls as one of the famous street foods downtown.
The saang is displayed or sold usually when it is nearing the afternoon when many people are already going out to work or school. It is sold like the ones you see here. The seller has prepared a lot of slices that can be bought for ₱5 or $.089 per stick that you will dip in their delicious sauce made of vinegar, chili, citrus calamansi, onion, and maybe some of their unknown ingredients. You can also buy whole saang depending on how many you want to buy, but I'm not sure how much a whole is because I usually only buy the stick.
I also think they only have one source supplier because their carts are all the same and how they are displayed and their sauces are also the same.
Back then when I still just passed it by and hadn’t tried it, I thought it wasn't good, but when I stayed in the city for a while and my cousin invited me to taste it one time, it was like I was addicted to it already.
I know that too much sour is not good for my health, so when I have a chance to go Downtown, I only buy 2-6 sticks to satisfy my cravings.
