Hey hey good night all Hive friends. After previously sharing about the beauty of the sea of Sabang Island, today I will tell you about the typical snacks of the city of Banda Aceh, which are usually also bought by tourists from outside the city as souvenirs for their close relatives. The typical snack that I will discuss today is 'Bada Rateuk'. This somewhat foreign name is a name that is embedded in the regional language of the City of Aceh when translated Bada in the Acehnese language means Green and Rateuk means beans. So Bada Rateuk means green beans.
Out of curiosity about this Bada Rateuk snack, we were interested in buying it so that when we explored the beach attractions in Banda Aceh we could eat for our snacks. Bada Rateuk is a food made from green beans which are mashed into flour, then printed and compacted to form a dough then dried in the sun to dry, after the dry dough is rolled into flour and fried, this snack is very thin but not too crunchy when eaten. And frankly, my husband and I don't like this snack. There is no enjoyment and curiosity at all after eating this Bada Rateuk for the first time. The taste is very strange even though this snack is quite edible. But that's the taste and tongue maybe for some people this snack is very good, but for us frankly we will not buy this Bada Rateuk snack for the second time. It's enough for the first and last purchase. That's our impression of this snack. Immediately broke my heart when I ate it.😁😁
Forget about Bada Rateuk's Snacks which made us heartbroken in an instant even though the price for a packet is very cheap at IDR 15,000 or the equivalent of U$ 1 Dollar. Now we turn to the second snack, Kue's name is like a person's name, but not like that. The name of this cake is Kak ADE Kak Na's Cake. There are two choices of this cake, one made from flour and one made from cassava. So you can choose which variant you will buy with the price of one pan, which is Rp. 26,000 or the equivalent of U $ 2 dollars.
And our choice fell on the dough with Cassava Ingredients. You can get this cake in the Lampisang area which is the center for selling souvenirs in Banda Aceh City. This cake is not only made from cassava as the main ingredient but there are also other complementary ingredients such as cassava or cassava, sugar, eggs, coconut milk, pandan leaves, salt and cumin.
The texture of this cake is very soft and moist unlike sponge which has a dry texture. This Kaka Ade Kak Na cake is very soft, and has the right sweetness. Because this cake is wet so this cake can only last for 3 days at room temperature and 1 week when you store it in the refrigerator. Unlike the Bada Rateuk snack above which broke our hearts, this cake from Kak Ade Kak Na makes our hearts unite again. There is no boredom to eat this cake, especially when enjoying it with loved ones. Even more steady and accompanied by a cup of warm chocolate without sugar.
That was our post. don't get bored and stay tuned for our next post. Greetings from us, Tomi and Maya from Binjai City, Indonesia, always healthy for all of us. Thank you.
