Greetings friends, today I want to tell you about my favorite dessert and the nice memories that brings to my memory its sweet taste, for those who do not know this dessert is a Venezuelan sweet and although it may seem like a flan or a sweet from other places is not the same, because its difference lies in the ingredients and the way of preparation.
It is composed of eggs, whole milk and condensed milk, melted caramel and if you want to make a coconut flavored quesillo you add coconut milk, its secret is in the preparation is that it is cooked in a bain marie outside or inside the oven and although it sounds complicated it is easy, but this post is not to teach you to make this dessert because I am missing the step by step images, and because actually this quesillo was made by my mom, this post is to tell you my memories related to the quesillo and my new experience.
When I was a little girl of about 10 years old my mom lived doing courses among them baking, where they taught her to make cakes of all kinds and the quesillo, I remember this time as one of the best of my life because I was anxiously waiting for the weekend to arrive for my mom to make the sweets that were the practices of the course and her homework, sometimes she made up to 3 cakes or quesillos practicing until they were perfect and all the desserts that were the supposed mistakes ended up in our stomachs 🤣, thank goodness at that time my metabolism was another.
My mom made the traditional quesillo and the coconut flavored one, without lying to you, it's a delight. Once a Colombian aunt, my dad's sister, came home for a vacation, she had never tried this sweet and she thought it was so divine that she asked my mom for the recipe and to teach her how to prepare it, I thought it was strange that she didn't know it coming from a country so close, but when I went to Colombia I realized that they don't make quesillo there and it is an unknown dessert in Latin America.
Years ago, when I traveled to Peru, I found a typical sweet that was a lemon filled with dulce de leche. I thought it was so tasty that it was in second place and I even brought some samples when I returned to Venezuela, but I forgot its name.
For this New Year's Eve, my mom wanted to have candy on the table for dinner, because according to some beliefs, this will bring a sweeter New Year, and my brother bought a cake to support a friend's venture. We had a lot of sweet, the cake was delicious, but nothing like the quesillo. When I taste this sweet, I delight in its consistency in my mouth, soft, but hard enough to have to chew for a while, sweet, but not cloying, its caramel smell relaxes me and its taste gives me joy and satisfaction.

La experiencia de volver a comer mi postre favorito, el Quesillo un manjar de los dioses
Saludos amigos, hoy quiero contarles sobre mi postre favorito y los lindos recuerdos que trae a mi memoria su dulce sabor, para los que no conozcan este postre es un dulce venezolano y aunque puede parecer un flan o un dulce de otros lugares no es lo mismo, porque su diferencia radica en los ingredientes y la forma de preparación.
Está compuesto de huevos, leche completa y leche condensada, caramelo derretido y si se desea hacer un quesillo sabor a coco se le agrega la leche de coco, su secreto está en la preparación es que se cocina en baño de MarÃa fuera o dentro del horno y aunque suene complicado es fácil, pero este post no es para enseñarles hacer este postre porque me faltan las imágenes del paso a paso, y porque en realidad este quesillo lo hizo mi mamá, esta publicación es para contarles mis recuerdos relacionados con el quesillo y mi nueva experiencia.
Cuando estaba pequeña de unos 10 años mi mamá vivÃa haciendo cursos entre ellos el de reposterÃa, donde le enseñaron hacer pasteles de todo tipo y el quesillo, recuerdo esta época como una de las mejores de mi vida porque esperaba ansiosamente que llegara el fin de semana para que mi mamá hiciera los dulces que eran las prácticas del curso y su tarea, a veces hacÃa hasta 3 tortas o quesillos practicando hasta que le quedaran perfecto y todos los postres que eran los supuestos errores terminaban en nuestros estómagos 🤣, menos mal en esa época mi metabolismo era otro.
Mi mamá hacÃa el quesillo tradicional y el de sabor a coco, sin mentirles, es una delicia. Una vez vino a casa por unas vacaciones una tÃa colombiana, hermana de mi papá, ella nunca habÃa probado este dulce y le pareció tan divino que le pidió a mi mamá la receta y que le enseñará como prepararlo, me pareció extraño que no lo conociera viniendo de un paÃs tan cercano, pero cuando yo fui a Colombia me di cuenta de que allá no hacen quesillo y es un postre desconocido en Latinoamericana.
Hace años, cuando yo viajé a Perú, encontré un dulce tÃpico que era un limón relleno de dulce de leche. Me pareció tan sabroso que quedé en segundo lugar y hasta traje algunas muestras cuando regresé a Venezuela, pero se me olvidó su nombre.
Para este fin de año, mi mamá quiso tener dulce en la mesa para la cena, porque según algunas creencias, esto traerá un año nuevo más dulce, y mi hermano compró un pastel para apoyar el emprendimiento de una amiga. TenÃamos mucho dulce, la torta estaba rica, pero nada como el quesillo. Cuando pruebo este dulce, me deleito de su consistencia en la boca, blando, pero lo suficientemente duro para tener que masticar por un rato, dulce, pero no empalagoso, su olor a caramelo me relaja y su sabor me da alegrÃa y satisfacción.
