Hello everyone, I wish you all a wonderful day filled with sunshine – without ending up looking like a piece of leather. LOL With all the drying I did yesterday, I was afraid I would turn into one myself.
Yesterday was the big kick-off for the fruit leather marathon – and let me tell you: we dried everything the fruit pulp had to offer! No sooner had the dehydrator, i.e. the oven, reached operating temperature than my harmless fruit bowls were transformed into a leather workshop of flavours. The plums were ripe to the point of sweetness, the currants were sour like a tax return, and the kiwi – a real diva, with seeds, character and plenty of attitude. Everything was ready and waiting for the big transformation from fruit to snack. 🍡 😊
The preparation was like a small culinary art performance. Pitting, coring, peeling, puréeing – I felt like I was on a smoothie mission. The fruit mixtures were lovingly seasoned, a little honey here, a hint of vanilla there. It sounded gourmet and smelled like a jam concert.
Then it was time to dry them: three trays at once in the oven at 60 °C convection, with the door half open – for over eight hours per batch. In between, we tasted, sceptically examined and passionately hoped. And then – oh yes – the first leather: flexible, aromatic, a fusion of fruit and nostalgia. The plum strips were delicious, the kiwi slightly tart with fruity charm, and the currant? It was cheeky, sour and sweet at the same time – like a little gummy bear with personality.
In total, it took 13 hours, four portions, advanced kitchen chaos and a heavenly realisation: fruit is not just for eating – it can also be celebrated! It was totally worth it: a perfect substitute for gummy bears, completely sugar-free (except for the little rolled-up decoration) and otherwise 100% natural.

Gestern war der große Startschuss zum Fruchtleder-Marathon – und ich sag’s euch: Es wurde geledert, was das Fruchtfleisch hergibt! Kaum war der Dörrapparat, also der Backofen, auf Betriebstemperatur, verwandelten sich meine harmlosen Obstschalen in eine geschmackliche Lederwerkstatt. Die Pflaumen waren reif bis zur Süßegrenze, die Johannisbeeren sauer wie eine Steuererklärung, und die Kiwi – eine echte Diva, mit Kernen, Charakter und jeder Menge Attitüde. 🍡 😊
Alles war am Start und bereit für die große Transformation von Frucht zu Snack.
Die Vorbereitung glich einer kleinen kulinarischen Kunstperformance. Entsteinen, Entkernen, Schälen, Pürieren – ich fühlte mich wie auf einer Smoothie-Mission. Die Fruchtmassen wurden liebevoll abgeschmeckt, ein bisschen Honig hier, ein Hauch Vanille da. Es klang nach Gourmet und roch wie ein Marmeladenkonzert. 💚
Dann ging es ans Trocknen: Drei Bleche gleichzeitig im Ofen bei 60 °C Umluft, mit halboffener Tür – und das über acht Stunden pro Charge. Zwischendurch wurde probegezupft, skeptisch geprüft und leidenschaftlich gehofft. Und dann – oh ja – das erste Leder: biegsam, aromatisch, eine Fusion aus Frucht und Nostalgie.
Der Pflaumenstreifen war herrlich, die Kiwi leicht säuerlich mit Fruchtcharme, und die Johannisbeere? Die war frech, sauer und süß zugleich – wie ein kleiner Gummibär mit Persönlichkeit.
Insgesamt waren es 13 Stunden, vier Portionen, ein fortgeschrittenes Küchenchaos und eine himmlische Erkenntnis: Früchte kann man nicht nur essen – man kann sie feiern! Es hat sich total gelohnt: ein perfekter Gummibärchen-Ersatz, ganz ohne Zucker (außer der kleinen eingerollten Deko), und sonst zu 100 Prozent natürlich. 😄
