When we wander, we capture photos for several reasons, and for me, photography is my way of preserving memories and sharing experiences. In that way, I'll remember the places by browsing my gallery. But sometimes, the photos we take provoke our thoughts and imagination and inspire us to write about them. That is evident in different blogs here at Hive.
I captured these photos back when I visited a park here in Hong Kong before spring ended. It's a place where you can connect with nature and unwind at the same time. There was a pond that caught my attention because of the different lotus flowers blooming on the surface. It wasn't just me who was taking photos, others were too.
The enchanting beauty of lotus flowers in white and pink petals would definitely catch one's attention. This isn't just significant in Chinese culture but in others too, which holds deep symbolism and is also a metaphor for human life. The fact that it grows in murky water alone symbolizes struggles in life. But one good thing about the lotus flower is that, despite its living environment, it always blooms beautifully, which symbolizes resilience and growth.
The recent challenge, particularly my father's death, was the hardest among all that occurred in my life that I even thought of giving up. I was so drowned in the darkness that I forgot all my desires and what I fought for in life. But when I looked around me and saw my loved ones, I realized that there are still reasons to live, so I must move forward. Each time I see lotus flowers, it reminds me that despite the different challenges life throws at me, there are always ways to get through them. And during dark times, there is always a choice to seek light.
