The genre is Romantic comedy and Drama.
Bimbo ademoye is a good producer, any movie she produces always hits the roof. Just to clarify, I’m not one of those shipping herself and Timini, I love their movies because they have a really strong onscreen chemistry and you can feel their emotions and familiarity through their acting.
Watching it honestly stirred a lot of emotions, I didn’t know how to feel about some scenes.
But let’s discuss.
The Plot
Morenike is the heir to her mother’s(Regina) marketing empire. She gets married to Laolu, a horticulturist from a humble background. Regina doesn’t approve of their marriage because she feels Laolu is not in their class. She constantly tries to break them up by frustrating Laolu and making him feel less of a man, and pressuring Morenike to quit the marriage. All of this puts a strain on their marriage, pushes them to the edge.
My Review
Shaffy Bello delivered as the perfect evil mother in-law nobody prays for. She was a single mother who built her empire single handedly, raised her only child to take over, and wasn’t going to let any “opportunist” take away her hard work. At some point i grew frustrated for Laolu, i wanted to help him speak! Regina had a mission “if i can’t get a rich son in-law, i might as well match the head of the one i got.“
If anyone pissed me off in this movie, it was Bimbo (Morenike). She acted like her mom’s puppet, always doing everything she was told even she knew it might never be enough. I kind of felt bad for her sometimes, she had a hard time balancing her relationship with her and her husband. I knew she loved Laolu but i believe there’s a way love should be shown. And if my show of love is louder than yours, then maybe you don’t love me enough.
Timini showed so much strength as Laolu. He played a man who’s willing to do everything and take anything for the woman he loves. He didn’t show any sign of weakness. He was pushed to the wall many times but he held on. He tolerated their excesses until his rope broke.
Honestly, i don’t even know if it’s possible in real life for a man to tolerate so much. The stress was too much.
I probably would’ve packed my bags a long time ago lol.
Final thoughts
Overall it’s a movie that pulls you in emotionally, even if it frustrates you in part. If you’re into movies about love, tough choices and family tension, then you’ll love this one.
I’ll rate this movie 7/10.
The feel of the movie was good, beautiful scenes and pure on screen chemistry. Even though like almost every Nollywood movie, it was predictable, it still delivered emotions and performance
If you’ve watched it, let me know what you think.
If you haven’t, will you be watching it?
