Yellowstone is coming to an end. After some uncertainty about when the fifth season would conclude, an agreement was reached with Kevin Costner, and we received the final 5 episodes of the season. It's worth noting that these episodes don't feature the actor who starred in most of the series, and although the way they wrote him out was strange, I'm pleased with the ending.
I warn you, if you haven't seen the series yet, stop here, as I'm about to write openly about the latest events. The biggest impact you'll experience is Costner's departure with the death of his character, something that's unsettling because for five seasons he escaped death more than once, from the fiercest enemies, and now, as governor of Montana, he suddenly appears dead in the bathroom, appearing to be a suicide.
Why this abrupt exit of the John Dutton character? It's said that the reason is due to differences that arose with the show's producer and creator, Taylor Sheridan. Costner claims that production went on for more than a year, and the scripts weren't arriving on time, which delayed his personal projects, as he intended to work more than once a year.
This makes a lot of sense, because the number of series produced and written by Sheridan for MTV and Paramount is large, and with so much work, it's obvious that some would be delayed, which ended up hurting Costner. Personally, I think he deserved better treatment. He's a renowned actor who belongs to the Hollywood elite, but they still managed to continue without him.
Returning to the series, the episodes that cover his death feel strange and forced, to be more precise, episodes 9 and 10. Then you get used to the idea, and Beth begins to take full prominence in the story, which continues in the fight to save the ranch from falling into the hands of outsiders and for the lands to remain wild and almost untouched.
This part of the story feels right because it's the struggle the series has been telling from the beginning. Everyone coveted those lands, but John Dutton's promise to preserve them as the Native Americans gave them to him carried a lot of weight, which is why he never yielded to the large sums of money they offered him. Also, in these last 5 episodes, the series retained its wonderful cinematography. I never tired of seeing the beautiful landscapes of Montana.
As for the ending of the story, I surprisingly loved it. I didn't expect it to be like that. I think I had thought at some point that the lands should return to the Native Americans. It's true that the Duttons saved many of their lives thanks to cattle ranching, but if it weren't for the Native Americans giving them those lands, they wouldn't have had such a story. That's why it seems perfect to me that they are the ones who keep them. No one is better suited to understand the sacred nature of the land and that it shouldn't be defiled.
Another great success was giving closure to each character's story, no matter how small or secondary they seemed. Everyone had their happy ending if they deserved it, or their punishment. Although the Duttons don't keep the ranch, they are left with what they deserve. I don't justify the means they used to keep it, but they were never the aggressors; they were defending what they loved. That seems like a good ending to me.

El sorpresivo final de Yellowstone que retorna a los orígenes
Yellowstone llega a su fin, tras un tiempo incierto de cuando la quinta temporada finalizaría, se llegó a un acuerdo con Kevin Costner y recibimos los últimos 5 capítulos de la temporada. Cabe destacar que estos no cuentan con la presencia del actor que protagonizó la mayoría de la serie, y aunque fue extraño como le dieron salida, estoy complacido con el final.
Te advierto que si no has visto la serie aún, te detengas acá ya que procedo a escribir abiertamente de los últimos acontecimientos. El impacto más grande que recibes es la salida de Costner con la muerte de su personaje, algo que incomoda porque durante 5 temporadas se libró más de una vez de la muerte, de los enemigos más feroces y ahora como gobernador de Montana de repente aparece muerto en el baño aparentando un suicidio.
¿Porque esta salida tan abrupta del personaje Jhon Dutton? Se dice que la razón se debe a las diferencias que surgieron con el producto y creador de la serie Taylor Sheridan. Costner alega que la producción se alargó más de un año y los guiones no llegaban a tiempo lo cual retrasaba sus proyectos personales, ya que él pretendía trabajar más de una vez por año.
Esto tiene mucho sentido, porque la cantidad de series producidas y escritas por Sheridan para MTV y Paramount son muchas, y entre tanto trabajo es obvio que alguno se retrase, lo cual terminó perjudicando a Costner. Personalmente creo que debió recibir un mejor trato, es un actor consagrado que pertenece a la élite de Hollywood, pero igual se las arreglaron para seguir sin él.
Volviendo a la serie, los capítulos que abarcan su muerte se siente extraños y forzados, para ser más preciso el 9 y 10, luego te acostumbras a la idea y Beth comienza a tomar el protagonismo pleno de la historia, la cual continúa en la lucha por salvar el rancho de que no caiga en manos de foráneos y las tierras permanezcan salvajes y casi vírgenes.
Esta Parte de la historia se siente bien porque es la lucha que la serie cuenta desde el principio, todos anhelaban esas tierras, pero la promesa de Jhon Dutton de conservarlas como los nativos se las entregaron tenía mucho peso, por eso nunca cedió a las grandes sumas de dinero que le ofrecieron. También en estos últimos 5 capítulos la serie conservó su maravillosa fotografía, nunca me cansé de presenciar los bellos paisajes de Montana.
En cuanto al cierre de la historia, sorprendentemente me encantó, no me esperaba que fuera así. Creo haber pensado en algún momento que las tierras debían volver a los indios. Es cierto que los Dutton salvaron muchas de sus vidas gracias a la cría de ganado, pero de no ser por los indios al darle esas tierras, no hubieran tenido tal historia, por eso me parece perfecto que sean ellos los que las conserven, nadie mejor para entender el carácter sagrado de la tierra y que no sea mancillada.
Otro gran acierto fue dar un cierre a la historia de cada personaje, por más pequeño o secundario que pareciera, cada quien tuvo su final feliz si lo merecía o su castigo. Aunque los Dutton no conservan el rancho, se quedan con lo que merecen, no justifico los medios que utilizaron para conservarlo pero nunca fueron los agresores, estuvieron defendiendo lo que amaban, eso me parece un buen cierre.
