Un buen concurso por parte de la comunidad de CineTV para cerrar el mes de octubre en el cual debemos participar realizando una publicación sobre nuestra película favorita de Halloween; la película que más miedo les produce, pero que no pueden dejar de ver; personalmente no quiero referirme a un solo film sino a una franquicia que tiene mucho que ver con disfraces, fantasmas y muchas muertes.
A good contest by the CineTV community to close the month of October in which we must participate by making a post about our favorite Halloween movie; the movie that scares them the most, but that they can't stop watching; personally I don't want to refer to a single film but to a franchise that has a lot to do with costumes, ghosts and many deaths.
Para este nuevo concurso de CineTV pensé en escribir sobre un film que me provocó, a quien engaño, me provoca terror; esa película es "A Nightmare on Elm Street" primer film en dónde conocimos a uno de los antagonistas más despiadados y psicópatas del mundo del cine, "Freddy Krueger"; está película fue dirigida por uno de los maestros del terror Wes Craven y cuando pensé en este director decidí cambiar de opinión y escribir sobre una de mis películas favoritas por siempre y que me hizo abrazar al género slasher, pero en esta publicación no solo hablaré sobre el film estrenado en 1996, ya que mi intensión es escribir sobre las cinco películas que conforman está franquicia liderada por un gran antagonista con una icónica máscara y una de las mejores "Final Girl" que he visto.
For this new CineTV contest I thought of writing about a film that provoked me, who am I kidding, it provokes me terror; that film is "A Nightmare on Elm Street" the first film where we met one of the most ruthless and psychopathic antagonists in the world of cinema, "Freddy Krueger"; this movie was directed by one of the masters of horror Wes Craven and when I thought about this director I decided to change my mind and write about one of my favorite movies ever and that made me embrace the slasher genre, but in this publication I will not only talk about the film released in 1996, since my intention is to write about the five films that make up this franchise led by a great antagonist with an iconic mask and one of the best "Final Girl" I've ever seen.
Craven estuvo envuelto en esta franquicia hasta el cuarto film, el cual fue su último antes de fallecer en 2015; el otro gran padre de esta franquicia, el guionista Kevin Williamson escribió el guion de las dos primeras y la cuarta parte; la unión de ambos para dar vida a esta historia llegó en un momento perfecto, ya que el cine de terror pareciera que pasará por un tipo de hiato y es que desde finales de los 80' y comienzo de los 90', franquicias cómo "Halloween", "Friday the 13th", "A Nightmare on Elm Street" y "Hellraiser" no alcanzaba conectar con el nuevo público y es que en mi opinión, creo que lo sobrenatural de los antagonistas pudo ser aburrido para esa generación de los 90', así que al contar con un guionista cómo Williamson que obtuvo fama con su serie "Dawson Creek" (1998), sabía cómo conectar con el público que estaba entre la Generación X y algo más y para eso creó una historia en dónde no borra lo que se ha hecho en el pasado dentro del género del terror y da paso a algo nuevo, con un villano con un rostro o máscara icónica, con una historia de base que es muy importante en el motivo del por qué ocurre todo y por supuesto una joven mujer que va evolucionando en cada ataque para convertirse en una heroína especial en el mundo del cine; todo esto bajo el lente de la cámara de un director que sabe cómo crear humor en una escena antes de algún personaje sea asesinado.
Craven was involved in this franchise until the fourth film, which was his last before passing away in 2015; the other great father of this franchise, screenwriter Kevin Williamson wrote the screenplay for the first two and the fourth part; the union of both to give life to this story came at a perfect time, since horror films seem to go through a kind of hiatus and since the late 80's and early 90's, franchises such as "Halloween", "Friday the 13th", "A Nightmare on Elm Street" and "Hellraiser" failed to connect with the new audience and in my opinion, I think that the supernatural of the antagonists could be boring for that generation of the 90's, so having a screenwriter like Williamson who became famous with his series "Dawson Creek" (1998), he knew how to connect with the audience that was between Generation X and something more and for that he created a story where he did not erase what has been done in the past within the horror genre and gives way to something new, with a villain with an iconic face or mask, with a backstory that is very important in the reason why everything happens and of course a young woman who evolves in each attack to become a special heroine in the world of cinema; all this under the camera lens of a director who knows how to create humor in a scene before a character is killed.
Cada film slasher debe tener un motivo, la idea, el impulso que empuja a un personaje a cometer los asesinatos; sé que en "Halloween" de Carpenter no existe un motivo para que Myers asesine, pero eso no quiere decir que en otros films slashers repitan está idea, lo contrario, todo film necesitaba que eso se explore y se desarrolle porque es necesario que quien cometa los asesinatos tenga su "Oportunidad de Brillar" y del porqué hace esos terroríficos actos; el "Motivo" en SCREAM, es importante, muy importante y no lo revelaré ni profundizaré porque nunca es mi idea de hacer spoilers en mis publicaciones, solo diré que en esta franquicia de (por ahora) 5 films, uno de esos motivos tuvo un comienzo y fin en tres películas, un nuevo motivo en la cuarta y otro en la quinta, posiblemente en la sexta exista una extensión de lo que sucedió en el anterior film, pero estoy seguro de que habrá algo más y es que esto es uno de los factores o características relevantes en esta franquicia, el suspenso del motivo, el suspenso de ¿Quién es el Asesino? Esto es lo que más me gusta de estas películas porque tienes la oportunidad de adivinar quién está detrás de la máscara aunque siendo sincero, en cuatro films nunca descubrí quien era el asesino, en el último es algo evidente y es una pena porque el film en sí es muy bueno.
Every slasher film must have a motive, the idea, the impulse that pushes a character to commit the murders; I know that in "Halloween" by Carpenter there is no motive for Myers to murder, but that doesn't mean that in other slasher films they repeat this idea, on the contrary, every film needed that to be explored and developed because it is necessary that whoever commits the murders has his "Chance to Shine" and why he does those terrifying acts; the "Motive" in SCREAM, is important, very important and I will not reveal it or go deeper because it is never my idea to make spoilers in my posts, I will only say that in this franchise of (for now) 5 films, one of those motives had a beginning and end in three films, a new motive in the fourth and another one in the fifth, possibly in the sixth there will be an extension of what happened in the previous film, but I am sure there will be something else and this is one of the relevant factors or characteristics in this franchise, the suspense of the motive, the suspense of Who is the Killer? This is what I like most about these films because you have the chance to guess who is behind the mask although being honest, in four films I never found out who the killer was, in the last one it is something obvious and it is a pity because the film itself is very good.
SCREAM, no es solo "Ghostface", todas las películas, en especial las cuatro primeras tienen relevancia en las épocas en dónde fueron estrenadas; por ejemplo el primer, tercero y puedo decir cuarto film, está muy ligado a lo que lamentablemente ha sucedido en muchos lugares en Norteamérica; por ejemplo, hubo personas que mientras eran juzgados por cometer asesinatos, la defensa alegó que estás personas eran influenciadas por films de terror como por ejemplo SCREAM; otro caso muy ligado a esta franquicia es la denuncia a Harvey Weinstein sobre el abuso sexual hacia actrices solo por obtener trabajos en las películas que él producía; está denuncia en el 2017, dio nueva relevancia a un film que fue estrenado hace 17 años y que al ser considerada la más floja de todas, al final se convirtió en una de las favoritas de los fans y si amigos, al pasar el tiempo, SCREAM 3 se convirtió en un divertido y entretenido slasher; está influencia, estás ganas de ser un "copycat", obtener una fama que muchos psicópatas del cine sueña con tener es algo recurrente en esta franquicia y es algo que como pueden observar no se separa de la realidad y es que estas películas tiene un factor especial y es que a pesar de ser consideradas dentro de muchos géneros como terror, slasher, humor negro, no hay duda que este es un perfecto "Meta Film", la influencia del cine, de como hacer cine, es algo muy ligado a esta historia y por eso existen "Las Reglas para sobrevivir a un film Slasher" creadas por "Randy" y potenciadas o actualizadas por "Mindy"; reglas muy importante de saber por qué así como en el cine, también ayudan a la vida real.

Esta es una divertida franquicia de ver; sé que SCREAM no escapa de ser repetitiva cómo otros slashers, pero sí que es muy buena y es que actualmente no puedo considerar a ninguna como un mal film, ya no, tal vez al momento de ver la tercera y cuarta película hubo factores que hicieron que no me gustará, una por qué es menos gore, la otra porque los spoilers me arruinaron la experiencia de ver el regreso de esta franquicia y lamentablemente está fue una de las cosas que repetí al ver el quinto film estrenado en este año y en dónde no hubo necesidad de ver alguna red social sino de que los spoilers provienen del tráiler por eso decidí no ver el próximo que se estrenará pronto, ya que el sexto film se podrá ver en los cines en mazo del año próximo. Esta franquicia es muy divertida, está muy bien dirigida, con buenos personajes, buen antagonista y Sidney "Fucxxxx" Prescott, este personaje lo tengo a la altura de Ripley, Sarah Connor y Laurie Strode; qué buen personaje, es único, fuerte, decidida, su evolución es lo mejor y la interpretación de Neve Campbell es impresionante. Le tengo un buen aprecio a esta franquicia, me gusta que sea real no solo que el asesino, sino en su locura, sus motivos sean reales; eso es importante y con esto no los defiendo porque están completamente locos, sino que le da un buen sentido a la historia; esta franquicia se creó hace 25 años y como ya dije, el año que viene es la secuela directa del film anterior, tengo muchas expectativas sobre a dónde irá esta nueva historia porque pienso que debe soltar lo hecho en cuatro películas anteriores, pero así como hizo SCREAM en 1997, no puede borrar lo que se ha hecho en anterioridad así que puede mostrar cosas nuevas (más) y seguir con lo que ha dado fama a estos films; por todo lo que he descrito y si por casualidad no han visto a ninguna de estas películas, entonces los invito a que vean primero al film que reavivó el slasher en el cine y después disfruten las demás y recuerden, si tienen otras preferencias, otros films que les guste ver en "Halloween" entonces participen en el concurso de CineTV, en el siguiente link les dejo la reglas a seguir: Favorite Halloween Movie.
This is a fun franchise to watch; I know SCREAM doesn't escape from being repetitive like other slashers, but it is very good and actually I can't consider any of them as a bad film, not anymore, maybe when I saw the third and fourth film there were factors that made me not like it, one because it's less gore, the other because the spoilers ruined my experience when I saw the return of this franchise, the other because the spoilers ruined the experience of seeing the return of this franchise and unfortunately this was one of the things that I repeated when I saw the fifth film released this year and where there was no need to see any social network but the spoilers come from the trailer so I decided not to see the next one that will be released soon, since the sixth film will be released in theaters in March next year. This franchise is a lot of fun, it is very well directed, good characters, good antagonist and Sidney "Fucxxxx" Prescott, this character I have him on par with Ripley, Sarah Connor and Laurie Strode; what a good character, she is unique, strong, determined, her evolution is the best and the performance of Neve Campbell is awesome.
