Hello Movie Lovers π₯πΏπΏπ¬β€οΈ
We all have a thing for Santa Clause isn't? Hehe
I know we are not in Christmas period but this last weekend netflix and chills got me watching one most twisted Christmas tale: The Red one.
I opened my laptop and walked into "Red One" with high hopes, expecting a holiday action film that would get me in the mood for the season, although we are not in Christmas but my movie craving sometimes can be pretty odd π.
The Movie stars Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans, I thought I was in for a over the edge experiencing But, unfortunately, this movie didn't quite live up to my expectations.
Let's us talk about the plot
I loved honestly love the idea of Johnson and Evans teaming up as unlikely allies to save Christmas or as my people will call it:(father Christmas: A.K.A Santa clause), but the storytelling felt like I'd seen it all before.
The plot was that: the Red One which is also the Santa clause was kidnapped by The Christmas witch, which all her aim is to punish all the ill-mannered people in the world and gain total world control, it's only Dwight J and Evans that can team up to stop the witch and save Christmas.
My observation is that the dialogue often felt forced, and the script relied on tired tropes that made it hard for me to become invested in the story. I wanted more depth and originality, but it seemed like "Red One" was content to coast on its familiar premise.
About the Action :
The action scenes were a satisfying factor for me. Johnson and Evans delivered impressive performances, showcasing their physicality and charisma. The stunts were well-choreographed, and the special effects were generally well-executed. But the movie itself lasts depth.
One thing that really worked for me was the chemistry between Johnson and Evans.
So I never believed they could have that chemistry between themselves, their banter was witty, and their interactions were enjoyable to watch. They brought life to the film that I appreciated. If the rest of the movie had been as well-executed, "Red One" might have been a holiday classic.
Personally I was thinking that with the film's large budget there would be some stunning visuals, but I was not impressed at all, I was surprised by the subpar CGI and special effects. Certain scenes looked rushed or unfinished, which detracted from the overall viewing experience. The film's visuals were often dark and muted, which might have been intentional, but it ultimately made the movie feel less festive and fun.
Finally The Characters
The characters in "Red One" felt woefully underdeveloped to me. Johnson and Evans' characters felt like stand alone cutouts, with little depth or motivation beyond their surface-level traits. The supporting cast didn't do much better, with most characters feeling like they existed solely to advance the plot, honestly the movie could have worked more on developing the characters.
Finally my verdict is that "Red One" Movie felt like a disappointing holiday action film that didn't live up to its promise. Although it had some entertaining action time and a unique premise (a twist in Christmas story) but the poor storytelling, poor CGi and visuals, and underdeveloped characters made it a poor experience for me. If you're a fan of holiday movies or action films, you might find some enjoyment, but don't expect a Super enjoyable experience. I would rate this Movie; 3 out of 5 stars.
