What would be the way to categorize it as a good or the best mystery movie, or maybe to put it even harder, what parameters equate to the best movie of all, groundbreaking shots, complex story, great performances or maybe everything else in a movie, the problem here is that this movie has none of the above said, but still I personally feel it is the best mystery movie and possibly personal for me, my favorite movie. Synopsis
Brendan Fry a normal student begins to get involved in a big problem after his ex-girlfriend disappears, in this search to find out what happened to her, he meets and discovers a network of people who are part of a small criminal world, everything is escalating as Brendan begins to delve into the why of the disappearance of his ex-girlfriend, drugs, junkies, rich teenagers and lots of mystery is the path that awaits Brendan to know the truth.
Brendan Fry un estudiante normal comienza a involucrarse en un gran problema luego de que su ex novia desaparece, en esta búsqueda para saber lo que sucedió con ella, va conociendo y descubriendo un entramado de gente que es parte de un pequeño mundo delictual, todo va escalando mientras Brendan comienza a profundizar en el por qué de la desaparición de su ex novia, drogas, yonkis, adolescentes adinerados y mucho misterio es el camino que le depara a Brendan para saber la verdad.

The choice of locations is one of the things that fascinates me most about the film, choosing wide, normal spaces that should not provoke or give a sense of danger, is a facet that I really like in this film, it avoids the easy way of provoking mystery by showing "small streets and dark places", to take you through wide and illuminated streets and scenarios, but despite these characteristics, each space feels unsafe, cold and hopeless.
La elección de locaciones son las cosas que más me fascinan, elegir espacios amplios, normales en el que no debería provocar o dar sensación de peligro, es una faceta que me gusta mucho en esta película, evita el facilismo de provocar misterio mostrando “callejuelas pequeñas y lugares oscuros”, para llevarte por calles y escenarios amplios e iluminados, pero pesé a esas características, cada espacio se siente inseguro, frío y desesperanzador.
The performances are sublime, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, even not being an important face in the cinema at that time, manages to catch you in this tortuous path in which he has to face, he does not guide us, we crawl along with him, because the protagonist, wanders and crawls ruining his physical health, as if he were a corpse refusing to die (metaphorically), the more we know the truth, the more the character falls into a small abyss in which it will seem impossible to get out without being stained. A success is also the choice of an important secondary called Laura, which could be said is the "guardian angel" in this film, this guide and accompanies him on this lonely road, her role is played beautifully by Nora Zehetner, the finesse of the actress in every action, as if it were a hidden sharp blade, deliver a sense of beauty and danger incredibly subtle.
Las actuaciones son sublimes, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, aún no siendo una cara importante en el cine en aquel momento, logra atraparte en este camino tortuoso en el que tiene que enfrentarse, él no nos guía, nosotros nos arrastramos junto a él, porque el protagonista, deambula y se arrastra arruinando su salud física, como si fuera un cadáver negándose a morir (metafóricamente), mientras más conocemos de la verdad, el personaje más va cayendo en un pequeño abismo en el que parecerá imposible salir sin quedar manchado. Un acierto también es la elección de un secundario importante llamado Laura, que podría decirse es el “ángel guardián” en esta película, este lo guía y acompaña en este solitario camino, su papel es interpretado hermosamente por Nora Zehetner, la fineza de la actriz en cada acción, como si fuera una cuchilla afilada escondida, entregan una sensación de belleza y peligro increíblemente sútil.

Se que esta película, no es la mejor en absolutamente nada, pero el cine como todo arte, radica principalmente en emociones, en provocar cosas al espectador, y está película es todo para mí, cuando me sumerjo en esta cinta, es envolverme de un gris eterno, es entregarme al color depresivo de las 7 de la tarde en el momento en el que el sol comienza a caer y llenan las calles de un color letárgico, es mirar el cielo y ver que sólo hay un cielo gris de por medio, y me gusta, disfruto aquellas emociones de cansancio, de que el mundo esta quebrado, de que mi existencia y la de todos, no es más que un abrazo frío mirando la costa.
