"Cars, cars are some of the most intoxicating, most beautiful things ever forged by mankind." - Jeremy Clarkson
Jezza said it, and you have to agree with it. I sure as hell saw it and felt it back when I was just a child.
Cars have always been a thing of fascination, from my childhood days to now, that little car enthusiast still lives on. From just sitting behind the steering wheel in my younger days, to learning how to drive in my early teens, to covering the long distances in my adult years, I've seen and done it all behind the wheel.
A few car crashes and bumps here and there, a few bruises on my lovely, the one that is so dear.
Fortunately, even my friends back from school were all "car guys", we used be quite notorious drivers around these areas, well known for our loud cars and high-speed antics.
Now, anyone can hit the accelerator and hold a steering wheel straight to reach top speeds, but maneuverability was the most rare among us all. Yet, I believe I was quite good when it came to navigating through the narrowest of streets and crammed up traffic jams.
That's all because I knew my car well; I knew every inch of it, every curve, the aerodynamical arches, also every stunningly protruding features on the body. At a certain point, whenever I sat behind the wheel, we just became one, it all felt natural; every gear, every single hit on the rev limiter, leading to the intense purring, as she speeds up ferociously.
Back in school when the boys were all busy skipping class for sports, or occupied reading about the subject they like, I used to read Top Gear magazine that I would sneak into class haha. Of course, I had my fair share of class bunking too, for the love of sport. But cars were something else, and obviously anything car related wasn't allowed in school, so that would have to wait till the bell rang.
Scouring through the bookshops for the latest Top Gear magazines or any other automobile magazine was my thing. Before I hit 6th grade, I had quite the collection of car magazines, 80% of it being just Top Gear. Turning on the TV to watch some Top Gear was another part of the day that I looked forward to, I just couldn't get enough of that show. What I loved the most was all the banter between Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May; probably one of the greatest trios and shows in the history of cars, journalism, entertainment and Television itself.
Sadly, I'm not much of an enthusiast anymore, because I can't afford to keep up with it all. But cars, well built cars actually, the legendary trio and show I mentioned, the love for all of it is still intact.
Some of my hobbies do come close and can compete with the motorhead that lives inside of me, but I believe that the motorhead will emerge victorious, every damn time.
