Before answering the above questions, I'd like to explain what curation is.
Wikipedia~ Content curation is the process of gathering information relevant to a particular topic or area of interest, usually with the intention of adding value select, organize, and look after the items in a collection.
I'm quite certain that with the highlighted one should understand why a content is curated, in order to add value to ones post.
The value in this case is a crypto currency called Hive.
So, how does it work if you may ask? Simple.
Post and get curated. Easy peasy right. Well that's far from it.
How does curation work on Hive?
Initially when a user comes for the first time, curators with high voting power tends to appreciate or support them by voting on their first posts, usually the introductory post.
But subsequently, without consistent interaction with other users, when new users make a post it doesn't get curated.
Curation usually works when one is active in interaction with others through reasonable comments on their blog.
Curators tend to visit the blog of some of their commenters and possibly curate one posts.
Also when one engaged in contests, as part of support, the host curates participants entries.
Note: If one is not active by commenting, posting or following others, he or she cannot be easily noticed by content curators.
What are the rules, posting and voting limits?
The rules are simple;
- Post original contents
- No plagiarism
- Always use pictures that are free. Watermarked pictures are not allowed unless there is evidence of purchase.
- No begging for upvotes or reblog
- Interact with other users by leaving a well structured comment.
- Use appropriate tags and post to the appropriate community (optional)
- Structure posts in a well meaning a readable manner.
Posting limits
Posting regularly is highly recommended but for a day I'd recommend a most three meaningful posts a day.
Some contests might require posting up to two different posts for two different contests especially when the time doesn't permit late submission.
Hive is all about posting quality contents and not measured in quantity.
A well structured blog can attract more curators than five haphazard blogs.
Voting limits
Ordinarily, one can want to vote up to hundred posts a day in order to support a lot of users.
With the way the voting power is, voting limit is also depended on it. If at 100% a vote gives $10, at 10% it gives $1 and it depreciates after one vote. Then the voting limit for that person is 10 posts a day.
Luckily, the voting power takes a few hours to recharge. In those few hours one can still go three more rounds in votes. That is 40 votes a day.
In essence voting limit is dependent on the person's voting power. A person with high voting power can curate till he or she can't curate a reasonable amount.
Summarily, curation works both ways. For the author and the curator. The main aim of curation is to add value to the post by voting.
