Hi there. In this education post I talk about the win win relationships between students and private tutors.
The motivation behind this post was from about a month ago when a young high school student from my work was saying that my company Mathnasium was just out there to make money. He was being cynical and negative when he said that. I said that private education providers and tutors offer a beneficial service and get paid for it. The educators help the student get better and get paid for it while the student or the parent(s) pay money for specialized assistance.
In the private education sector where I am at, delivering great content as well as service is important. Important as in it leads to customer retention, customer satisfaction and it some cases customer refferals. With customer referrals, if one student likes a certain education provider then the parents of that family may enroll a second, third or even fourth child.

Paying For Specialized Help
Private tutoring in the Toronto area at least is not cheap. I am not sure about pricing but I know tutors can get paid as little as 18 CAD per hour from a company to up to around 40 or 50 CAD per hour. Tutors on a job listing board website can charge whatever rate they would like. Rates could be low to attract clients where there are higher rates from theoretically higher quality and experienced tutors. Whatever the rate is parents and students are willing to pay for specialized assistance for homework help, test/exam preparations and more. Paying for a private tutor can be money well spent in helping their child succeed in their educational goals.
There is also the issue of whether the student does take their tutoring sessions seriously or not. That is more of a different topic.

Win Win Relationships Outside Of Tutoring
These type of win-win relationships exist outside of tutoring and education providers. Language learning, driving schools and fitness coaches come to mind when it comes to win win relationships. Customers pay a specialist to help them with languages, driving, fitness, etc. The specialist gets paid while the payer gains benefits in the areas they want improved.
