Once upon a time in a in the community of umaihili they lived a boy name sedeke he was the most handsome in the whole of wmaihili clan, but he has a fault’ he was a very proud fellow,” and his father had advised him on so many occasions not to be proud. “And that he should stop thinking that they was no other person that was as handsome as he was’.
He advised him that people who behave as he does end up regretting in the end. Though sedeke was a hardworking boy” he also was a good dancer, and every time he was called upon to perform him always left his audience overwhelmed with joy for he always comes out with a new dancing steps.
The whole crowd will all be carried away by his dance moves,” he brought a new dance they never saw or heard about in the land before” beautifully dressed girls danced in twos following his dance steps, they all showed off different styles. People will clap and clap shouting calling the name” sedeke” “sedeke” even the elderly ones move their bodies in harmony and everybody was happy.
And at the end of the show the king rewarded him handsomely, people shouted and clapped happily. But before the festival the king promised to give his daughter to the person who will dance best, everyone was in conclusion that it will be their sedeke, “but after the celebrations the best dancer was choosing by the king and it was not sedeke… this made him very upset.
He wandered why the king did not give him his daughter to marry, so he decided to punish the king, he decided that on the day of the kings daughter’s wedding he will be out of town. On that day he did what he thought, knowing fully that he would be called to perform” but on that day he was nowhere to be found.
Fortunately the king found a good dancer he danced more than sedeke and for that he was reward him as a chief, “chief of dance” when sedeke came back and heard what happened he was sad and he left the community in shame.
