A Gardner always loves their plants and sapling. They take care of them like their own children. Likewise the relationship between a poet and their poetry is very unique. Poems are dear to poets because they offer a unique form of self-expression, a way to process emotions, and a means of connecting with others. For some poets, writing poetry provides a sense of purpose and flow in their lives. This shows the unique blend of relationship between every artist and their art work. Elaborating on the existence of this relationship Sanskrit says :
कविः पिता पोषयति पालको रसिकः पतिः|
कविता युवतेर्नूनं सोदरास्तु विवेकिनः||
Kavih pita poshayati paalako rasikah patih.
Kavitaa yuvaternoonam sodaraastu vivekinah.
Kavih = a poet .
Pita = father.
Poshayati = brings up
Paalako = guardian
Rasikah = connoisseur (an expert critic
of fine arts, music etc.
Patih = husband.
Yuvaternoonam = Yuvataih + noonam.
Youvateh = young woman's
Noonam = therefore.
Sodaraastu = sodarah + tu.
Sodaraah = born from the same mother.
Tu = also
Vivekinah = distinguished and judicious persons.
i.e. If poetry be a beautiful young woman, then a poet,who creates and nurtures her, is her guardian and father. Likewise, a connoisseur of fine arts and poetry is like her husband and distinguished and judicious persons are also like her real brothers.
Relating the various masterpieces to their creator, these lines highlight how they are important to them. Connoisseurs don't just admire the beauty of a piece; they analyze its composition, color palette, brushstrokes, and other technical aspects to understand how these elements contribute to the overall impact.
Living with art for a connoisseur is an active, intellectual, and emotional journey, constantly evolving as they deepen their understanding and appreciation for the beauty and meaning within the artwork. Their expertise is not just about knowledge, but also about a deep-seated love for the creative process and the beauty that can be found within it.
