These days, many people are driven by lust and anger instead of knowledge and awareness. Lust and anger are destroying people life. However, at the same time the pursuit of knowledge and awareness is often linked to personal growth and a sense of purpose, which can contribute to happiness in life. They are valuable assets for happiness in modern times. Knowledge can provide a sense of purpose and direction, helping individuals find meaning in their lives and contributing to a sense of fulfillment. The ancient Sanskrit too highlighted this phenomenon through following lines :
नास्ति काम समौ व्याधिः नास्ति मोह समो रिपुः |
नास्ति क्रोध समो वह्निः नास्ति ज्ञानात्परं सुखम् ||
Naasti kaama samau vyadhih naasti moha samo ripuh .
Naasti krodha samo vahnih naasti gyanaatparam sukham.
Naasti = does not exist, non existent.
Kaama = lust, erotic love.
Samau = equal to , matching.
Vyaadhi = disease, illness.
Moha = infatuation, delusion.
Ripuh = enemy.
Krodha = anger.
Vahnih = fire
Gyaanaat = awareness, knowledge
Param = highest.
Sukham = happiness, pleasure.
i.e. No other disease is worst than over indulgence in lust and no other enemy equals in doing harm than infatuation or delusion. Likewise, no other fire equals the anger burning in one's mind, and no bliss or state of
happiness is higher than having awareness and knowledge.
Understanding the destructive potential of Lust and anger is a crucial at first step. Lust, when unchecked, can lead to obsession and harmful behavior towards others, while anger, fueled by unmet desires, can result in impaired judgment and destructive actions. By understanding the potential pitfalls of uncontrolled lust and anger, and by actively working to manage these emotions, individuals can create a more fulfilling and positive life.
Choosing the path of knowledge and awareness can be very blissfull. Knowledge and awareness are not just about accumulating facts, but about expanding consciousness, fostering personal growth, and empowering individuals to live more meaningful and fulfilling lives.
