Challenges are part of life. Some run away, while some face it upfront. Those who takes the bulls with horns are always seen with respect because of their courage and valor. But on the other hand those who ran away, always be called as coward and always get disrespect in the society.
Our Sanskrit Scholars have a nice lines suited for these coward people.
निर्विषेणापि सर्पेण कर्तव्या महती फणा|
विषमस्तु न चाप्यस्तु घटाटोपो भयङ्करः||
Nirvishenaapi sarpena kartavyaa mahatee Phanaa,
Vishamastu na chaapyastu ghataatopo bhayankarah.
my own art work
Nirvishenaapi = Nirvishena + api. Nirvishena = non-venomous.
Api = even.
Sarpena = of a snake.
kartavyaa = duty.
Mahatee = great.
Phanaa = hood.
Vishamastu = Visham + astu.
Visham = poison.
Astu = be it so.
Na = not.
chaapyastu = cha + api + astu.
cha = and.
Ghataatopo = the process of creating a hissing sound and expanding its hood by a snake
Bhayankarah = frightening.
These lines states that Although there is no venom in the bite of a non-venomous snake, still it possesses the great power of expanding its hood and creating a hissing sound, which is very frightening, and it is its duty to use it in self-defense
The scholars like to highlight, that a non venomous snake always scare others with their hossing sound. Even though they are n9 dangerpus, still people frietebed with their coursgeous act. Like wise a coward p3rson should learn at least to stand up in fr9nt of challenges. You never know moght the challenges get away easily. Self defense is way to defend ourself. It does not mean to keep fighting always but makes people to stand up at times of any challenges.
