I joined the Blockchain on September 25, 2017, at 3:00pm CST. I had no idea what I was going to do here. I was told all my life I wasn't good at anything. I couldn't spell, which meant I couldn't write. I needed to be more coordinated, so sports were not for me. I had lost my dream job due to illness, which meant my self-esteem had taken a hit. Working was the only place I received positive feedback. I was home and in pain. I felt very alone.
I came to the Blockchain because my son, @Ecoinstant, loved me. He was worried about my mental health. He saw his Mom, who always looked on the bright side of life, fading away, and he was desperate to save me from drowning. I knew he was worried. I didn't want to disappoint him, but I still had no idea what I would do on the Blockchain.
I was lucky the Freewriter group started in the first few weeks I was on the Blockchain. There were no rules there but to give one hundred percent and to be free to try new things. Those early days were some of the happiest days of my life.
Seven years have come and gone since that day. We now have Alt Coins, Communities, and so much more.
For the last year and a half, I have been busy trying to keep my Mom alive. Seven days ago, she was in the hospital again for four days. That was her eighth time being admitted to the hospital since she moved here.
I have put my life on hold. I am now feeling how unhealthy this is for me. I can not make her care to live. I can not make her feel at home in her apartment, no matter how much it looks like the house she had to sell in Florida. I have done all I can for her mental health. I now need to take care of myself.
I miss writing. I miss making art. I miss reading fiction stories on Hive late at night. The sad part is I no longer know where to find fiction stories. With all this in mind, I took an old Community I own on Hive and changed the name to Original Fiction.
I was surprised the name wasn't already taken.
If you are like me and want to write a fiction story for fun, please post it in Original Fiction. We can make a place to unwind and read some fun stories late at night. Stories that will make us laugh, cry, and forget about the real world for a moment in time.
That is my hope. All we can do is see what happens!
Thank you to everyone who has kept Hive up and running while my life has been on hold! Let's hope I take my own advice and make time for writing, art, and reading some fantastic stories over the years to come!
