When I was a newbie in Hive, I read posts about Hive Power Up Day, but I did not know how to do it until a beautiful soul, @ifarmgirl, came to the rescue and guided me on how to do it. Perhaps it is my 9th HPUD and more to go!
Later on, I learned the significance of HPUD, and that it encourages me every first of the month not to mention that I have had 9 HPUDs in a row since I started powering up on October 01, 2022. Little by little, I am increasing my commitment and influence to the platform, and I must say I am staying for the Hive Ecosystem.
Nobody started in Hive without being a newbie. So if you are new to Hive and still wondering how to participate in HPUD, I am going to share how I did it every time.
I am using Ecency since I joined Hive for the first time. Indeed it is a popular application, although Hive can be signed in using other equally amazing decentralized applications. Here is a quick guide to power up through Ecency.
Steps in Powering Up Through Ecency
Step 1: Visiting The Ecency Website
Visit the Ecency Website at https://ecency.com. You will be directed to the Ecency feed. Click the tab in the upper right corner with the three lines icon. Then click log in.
Step 2: Logging In Through Ecency
To log in, you need to log in with your username and private key. Then click the re CAPTCHA to verify that you are not a bot. You will log in and be prepared to navigate to your wallet.
Step 3: Logging In and navigate to the Wallet
After you have logged in, you will once again be redirected to your Ecency feed. The wallet can be accessed by clicking the wallet icon.
Log in using your username and posting key, and you will land on your Ecency feed.
To go through your wallet and perform the power-up process, click on the wallet icon located in the top right corner of the screen.
Step 4: Powering Up in The Hive Section
Upon redirecting to your wallet, find the part where you can perform the process of powering up your Hive tokens, through the “Hive section”.
Click on the dropdown arrow, you will find various tabs and options, look for “Power Up Section”.
At the moment of powering up, I got 279.579 HIVE. You can choose the amount you would like to stake or power up, the lowest Hive tokens allowed to join in the HPUD are powering up at least 10 Hive or you could power up even more.
If you do not have enough Hive, you can choose the “Trade Token” section and convert either HBD or Hive depending on your need.
Step 5: Entering the Hive Amount to Power Up
In the "Power Up" section, you will decide to enter the Hive amount wish to stake or power up.
According to HiveBuzz, HPUDs are in many different levels that determine the size of the power bee. If you decided to stake at the lowest stake of at least 10 Hive, then you are eligible for Level 1 power up. Level 2 and Level 3 power ups are at least 50 Hive and 100 Hive, respectively. And the highest power up is Level 5 of staking with a minimum of 1000 Hive. The size of the power bee will always depend on the power up, for more is always bigger.
In my case, I wanted to power up 50 Hive tokens. So I entered the number "50" in the appropriate field.
Step 6: Confirming the Hive Power Up
After entering the desired Hive amount, go through the details to ensure the correctness of the number of Hive tokens you are about to power up. Once you have double-checked it, click on the "Confirm" button to proceed.
Step 7: Confirming the Hive Transaction
As soon as you click the amount, Ecency will display a confirmation dialog that lets you enter your private key to verify the transaction. If you approved the transaction, you will need to reenter your private key and click “Sign”.
After you have verified your power up, you will see a confirmation that the transaction was successful.
Finally, you can also view the History found at the bottom of the Wallet Tab. You should see an updated history reflecting your newly staked or powered up tokens.
Indeed, HP reflects the stake and influence in the Hive ecosystem. The more HP you possess, the bigger impact your upvotes and all activities you have on the platform.
