It's here! Hive Power Up Day for April 1st, 2023

 
 

I know, I know - I don't post anything for ages, and now here I am with two posts in one night. 😂

I'm happy to say that March was definitely an improvement for me over February, but no less busy. This coming month promises to be more of the same (even busier in some respects), but unlike for Power Up Days past, I'm not super worried about finding time to put together the results. For those who missed the news last month, I was able to put together an awesomesauce team (@livinguktaiwan and @erikah) to help me with this ever growing initiative. Not only are they assisting with validating each participant, they're also coming up with suggestions and ways to make the whole process simpler. I've said it before, but it bears repeating - thank you ladies! 🥰

Now to get to the business at hand - while it's still not midnight in my neck of the woods (I'm posting this a bit after 10pm EST), #HivePUD for April 1st 2023 has already arrived in other parts of the world. If you want a super cool way to check if it's officially in your area according to UTC time (which is how the Hive Buzz badges are determined), be sure to check out the Countdown Timer on the hivebuzz.me site (under the green "Power Up" tab), courtesy of the awesomesauce team at @hivebuzz!

HivePUD TL;DR

• If you want to qualify for the AMAZING Hive Power Up Day badge(s), your power up must happen during the 24 hours of April 1st 2023 according to UTC time.

and/or

• If you want to qualify for the #HivePUD prize pool, your power up and post must happen (according to criteria listed below) during the hours of April 1st 2023, your local time.

 

AND PLEASE NOTE:

I did some tweaking of the 4 traditional HivePUD posts a year ago last month, and back in April 2022 I decided to tweak a bit more by combining the usual first two posts (Announcement & Welcome to HivePUD) into this one that I publish around the first few hours of the start of the first each month. In addition, I'll do some extra signal boosting of the "HivePUD is coming" posts done by others instead, as it seems like it will be the best way to spread the word. 😊

And in July 2022, I decided to tweak the rules a bit, for the first time in forever - be sure to check them out below.

Oh and in October, because of the continuing (and awesome) uptick in participation, I tweaked the timeline of the Power Up Day results to give me a couple extra days to put things together after my numbers guy sends me the raw data.

What is HivePUD?

Hive Power Up Day happens on the first of every month. Those who are able to, take this time to power up some Hive, and/or cancel their power downs and pause trading/selling for the 24 hour span of the day.

What are the rules to win prizes for HivePUD?

UPDATED As of July 2022

The requirements are:

1. Your reputation must be above 39 and below 70 and your account must be in good standing with the community.
2. Your total HIVE Power (before the 1st) must be more than 100 and less than 8000.
3. You must power up at least 10 Hive on April 1st (and must NOT be powering down).
4. You must write a post about your power up on April 1st with at least 1 of these 3 tags - #HivePUD (International), #HispanicHPUD (Hispanic), or #HPUD (General) as one of your first 5 tags (tagging only in the body of the post doesn't count).

 
To be included in the winners list, you must meet all four requirements above. The order of the list (first place, second place, and so on) will be determined by the biggest PERCENTAGE of Hive powered up, not necessarily the most Hive powered up.

And to make it clear what's changed about the rules, I've bolded the two bits in rules #1 and #3. I think it's pretty self-explanatory why I've added those in, but please feel free to shout out if you any questions about it.

Oh, and a bit of a clarification as I haven't mentioned it for a minute - your Power Up Day post doesn't have to be just about your power up. You're welcome to just include a bit about it at the beginning/end of an unrelated post. For example, "Here are my plans for Hive Blog Posting Month and oh yeah, here's a screencap of my power up today." Just be sure it's posted on the first, and has the correct tag(s). 😊

 

How to get HiveBuzz badges

For details, check their post Hive Power Up Day - November 1st 2022 as well as their Power Up Day Helper Badge post but essentially -

• Power up a minimum of 10 HIVE during the UTC time for the first of the month. Convert your local time to UTC or check the countdown timer on the Hive Buzz site (under the "Challenges" tab) to confirm it's during the first UTC time before you power up.
