"We can not crash today, I have the shit tank at the back", Tom says as I open the passenger door of his car and step in.
living in a camper van, he takes the chemical toilet deposit for emptying.
I do not recall ever having a Eucalyptus coming towards me in such speed. I can´t help thinking this is where it all ends.
the passenger side rear mirror is ripped clean as the car skids ahead, right front wheel, deep in the road side gutter until finally coming to a violent stop against a little cement tube, by the entry to a property to the right.
The impact is violent. we both step out of the car, me holding on to the base of my neck, feeling the tension between my shoulder blades.
the rear left wheel of the car is up in the air. the spare wheel lies nearby.
It was a simple plan.
we were going to a registry office to change Tom´s address. since he does not speak Portuguese yet, I joined him as an interpreter.
we were going to take advantage and empty the shit tank, get some shopping done and a few other bits and pieces.
An empty container falls over as we go through a curve.
Tom instinctively looks back, thinking it was his toilet deposit and before I know it I stare straight into an Australian tree thinking it is all over. I shout his name and he looks back on the road trying to veer left to no avail.
It is just over 08:30 in the morning. we are at the side of the road. the car is a mess. the strong impact, still felt in the base of my neck, have damaged the chassis, front right wheel hangs in a strange angle. I call the Police.
we wait by the side of the road, signaling to other cars to slow down.
while waiting we consider if repair makes any sense. as our thoughts clear we both realize how lucky we were and feeling thankful. I still have very present a visual of a large tree coming towards me fast and wonder for how many nights ahead I will still dream of it.
The Police arrive and they do their thing. filling a report, diverting traffic, Alcohol test.
a neighbor farmer comes along with his old truck and we tow / drag the car off of the main road. a tow truck is also on the way.
The good old Peugeot 205 is hauled on the flat bed and secured. it is taken back to Tom´s farm as he isn´t yet sure if to even fix it.
as I try to process what just happened, I remember seeing an 8888 number somewhere while surfing the internet the other day. it caught my attention, but I did not take it any further.
now, I get 888 in the likes of a video I watch. this time, I decide to dig deeper.
I am not much of a numerologist or anything, but being a good observer, I notice things.
as far as I am aware the number 8 means completion, but I do not trust my knowledge and I read some info I find out there.
So from what I could gather, these are all good signs and the one thing I do not get is why I had to nearly smash into a huge tree in that case..?
I also look into the 8888. the general message is similar but there are other points to it too.
Resurrection..? have I died and gone somewhere..? oh lord..
A major life change..? as in NOT smashing into a massive tree ???
this all seem a bit contradictory, overwhelming and confusing. at least right now. but as always, being the optimist I am, I choose to look at the full half of the glass and be thankful for both of us having walked out of this in one piece.
