Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, there were few proponents of COVID vaccines, both while they were under development and as they were actually being deployed, as vocal as Dr Anthony Faucci, the White House COVID advisor and a long-term official within the US government. Throughout the same time period many, including yours truly, were doubting both the potential efficacy of those vaccines and their efficacy and safety following their deployment. Sadly, and in a dramatic fashion, the skeptics have been proven right - and the consequences were tragic. You can find a discussion of those consequences in many of the articles by both yours truly and many others, some of them linked below.

But now, it seems, Faucci himself admits some of the points yours truly has been making for some time. In a scientific article published in Cell Host & Microbe in January of this year Facci and his co-authors state the following:

Viruses that replicate in the human respiratory mucosa without infecting systemically, including influenza A, SARS-CoV-2, endemic coronaviruses, RSV, and many other “common cold” viruses, cause significant mortality and morbidity and are important public health concerns. Because these viruses generally do not elicit complete and durable protective immunity by themselves, they have not to date been effectively controlled by licensed or experimental vaccines.

So I guess all of us who have been presenting this and many other reasons why it was a long shot at best to create an effective vaccine against a virus like SARS-CoV-2 are not crazy "conspiracy theorists" who had to learn to "trust the science", according to so many mainstream soruces and voices? Or perhaps Dr Faucci and his co-authors have gone over to the "dark side" and become "crazy conspiracy theorists"? But then how come they are getting their ramblings published in a scientific publication?

Either way - it is what it is. COVID vaccines have so far failed to control the pandemic. And that was the reason they came into being to begin with. None other than Dr Anthony S. Faucci is currently admitting as much.
