Let's do the following mental exercise... Let's remember, how long has Haiti been in a constant state of chaos, violence and total anarchy? Undoubtedly, the answer will be "Forever". And it is not an exaggeration when it is stated that the poorest country in the American continent does not seem to be able to overcome any obstacle that the different circumstances of the historical moments have put in the way of the other half of the small "Island" shared with the Dominican Republic... Personally, this touches me very closely. I know, as a Venezuelan, many people from that country; and they are wonderful human beings.... But they have never known well-being.
The real question here is: has it always been this way, and is Haiti doomed to suffer for eternity? Think about it. Corruption, armed criminal gangs, violence, human and arms trafficking, cannibalism and a state that seems to be insufficient to be able to solve the situation it has to face. However, there is also a side that is not explained too much. The relationship between the causes of the disaster in the Caribbean country and the policies adopted by the United States of America? In different governments, but also in different historical moments.
Curiously, America's first free republic, seems to be "condemned" to total ostracism. It is only news, when the escalation of madness, psychopathy, disorder and extreme violence escalates to such a level that it deserves a brief moment on the world news, and on Tik Tok reels, Instagram and Twitter posts.... (Now called "X"). In this regard, NGO's also bear a burden of guilt for what we can all witness by googling "Haiti" and finding out what's going on.... Not for nothing, the Caribbean republic is also recognized as "The Republic of the NGO's".

Let's not forget, this country survives almost entirely on two economic variants: the blatant and normalized trafficking of firearms, jewelry, people and anything that is trafficked (yes, drug trafficking, obviously yes) and international aid that arrives in bundles of dollars every month. And part of the problem lies in the very social constitution of the country. The police and public order depend on a government, which from time to time is the victim of a coup d'état. Since Haiti's independence from Napoleon's France, the country has not been able to establish itself.
Their politicians have been real scoundrels. In other words, they are a replica of the worst dictators in history. Thus plunging the people of an island devoid of natural resources, and marginalized to the bottom of the scale of human consideration, to the most absolute oblivion. Similar, I would say, to what is also happening on the other side of the world: and yes, I am referring to Gaza, and the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. But that topic, perhaps I will develop it on future occasions; not now. In this case, Haiti is a mixture of inefficiency, institutionalized racism, normalization of violence and marginalization of the international community.
United States intervened directly or indirectly in almost every country in the Americas at some point in the 20th and 21st centuries. For better or worse, this has been the doctrine applied by the Stars and Stripes. Currently, the new Haitian "villain" is in the news for subjugating the already deeply impoverished citizens; freeing prisoners from the most violent jails on the planet, and they have even made the only remaining glimmer of institutionality resign; I am referring to the Prime Minister, who days ago just resigned for being totally incapable of exercising power in a country governed by armed gangs, vile terrorists, and nobody cares.
Even the Dominican Republic authorities, who are neighbors of the Haitians, have decided to close their borders since last September..... Media such as the New York Times, CNN, and Associated Press only limit themselves to tell what we all already know (let's not forget how I started this post). It is unfortunate that not even the United Nations seems to be interested in looking after the most basic human rights of the innocent people who have to live in this lawless and hopeless country. Not to mention the few, if any, rigorous investigations into the management of NGOs in that nation. Haiti was once free, only once, sadly....

I am not saying that no one really does not care about what happens in Haiti, what I am saying is that it is of vital importance where the events that mark our history take place? Just recently ISIS committed a terrorist attack in Moscow, can you imagine, the same situation, but in Paris?
