Another terrible outbreak of Cholera stroke the children and the citizens of Malawi. The Cholera which first stroke the country in 1998 and the second phase came in 2000 before the third season which started in 2022 led massive lost of lives. Cholera is an acute enteric infection caused by ingesting the bacteria Vibrio cholerae present in contaminated water or food. The main of cholera is attributed to the lack of adequate sanitation and insufficient access to safe drinking water. Cholera is one of the extremely virulent disease which causes severe acute watery diarrhoea that result in high morbidity and mortality with a widespread that affects both children and adults.

Malawi has been struggling with widespread cholera outbreak, with 36 943 cases has killed over one thousand, three hundred people (1210) from the twenty-nine (29) districts of Malawi between 3rd March 2022 February 2023. However, the current outbreak has extended through the dry season, with cases being reported since March 2022. Sadly the current outbreak of Cholera in Malawi started in 3rd March 2022 despite the government efforts from Machinga district as the result of tropical storm Ana January 2022 and Cyclone Gombe March 2022 which caused floods leading to the displacement of a population with low pre-existing immunity and had lack of access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene. The February outbreak mainly affected the people between the age bracket of 21 to 30 years which is about is 27.7% of cases, the second most affected people is between the age bracket of 11 to 20 age with 22.8% cases. Among the affected people, about Seventeen thousand, nine hundred and Forty-three (17 943) are males with 57% of the caseload while people of sixty (60) years are most killed

Statistical analysis of people killed by cholera outbreak in Malawi
On 29th January 2023, the total number of thirty-three thousand, six hundred and eight (33,608) cases of cholera was discovered with ten thousand, nine hundred and thirty-one (10,931) deaths have been recorded where total of ten thousand (10,000) cases were children and total of one thousand, six hundred and twenty-two (1,622) children's deaths
on the first week of February 2023, a total number of four thousand, two hundred and forty-four (4,244) cases were registered with total of one hundred and thirty-three (133) deaths.
Moreso, over twenty-thousand seven hundred forty-five (29,745) people has been reached through preventive and promotive behavioural change messages in nine districts of Malawi.
