Today, I gathered the last bit of materials needed to start my next Thermophilic Compost for The Soil Food Web School.

I started the day traveling to the horse farm to get some horse manure from a great local source that does not treat their horses with de-wormers or medications. I needed the horse manure for a High Nitrogen source. I would need 10-20% High Nitrogen materials, 30% regular Nitrogen materials and approx. 60 % Carbon materials for my compost pile.
For this pile I will use:
High Nitrogen
2 - Five Gallon Buckets of horse manure (split in to 4 buckets)
4 - Five Gallon Buckets of Alfalfa
6 total Five Gallon Buckets of High Nitrogen. 14% total
After visiting the horse farm my buddy and I traveled to a garden store in the town of Eugene, Oregon called Eugene Backyard Yard Farmer to pick up some wheat grass and timothy grass to finish up the gathering the carbon and nitrogen materials.

Regular Nitrogen
13 - Five Gallon Buckets of Timothy Grass
13 total Five Gallon Buckets of Regular Nitrogen. 30.2% total
Carbon
12- Five Gallon Buckets of wood chips
12- Five Gallon Buckets of wheat straw
24 total Five Gallon Buckets of Carbon. 55.8% total

Now that I gathered all the materials needed and have them all soaking in water over night, I will be ready to assemble this compost pile tomorrow morning! Hopefully, this one passes as well!
