Yesterday was the cool day for the week and now it will be warming back up again before rain likely on Sunday. The humidity will never drop if this keeps up.
Earlier than Tuesday I got out to start weed eating the rest of the farm. I started in the inner yard then got the pathway along the garden.
It then took me an hour to get through the area by the creek and in and around the trampoline and playset. I had to be on my game as I went through some areas as there are patches of wild strawberries that I try to go around. A few do get hit but there are 4 little patches still to keep spreading.
@stryeyz came home for lunch and went on a walk with the boys. She had tried to get our propane tanks filled but they need to be recertified which there are very few places it seems that are doing it for the public. Thankfully I have a third tank that should have enough for the scalding pot for butchering on Saturday.
2 breweries had grain ready so I got the trailer hooked up and the empty barrels all loaded up and the truck parked for this morning.
The 18 day radishes all got culled with hardly any being worth eating. The bulk of it got thrown to the animals.
I've been still cleaning in my tool shed and I pulled out this old ice chest that is filled with a mix of nails, screws, and bolts. I have had this thing for over 20 years and have never sorted it out. I inherited the thing when I cleaned out an old glass studio in the town I grew up in, the glass got me started blowing glass. I never took the time to sort the chest and just moved it along each time we moved. I finally sorted it yesterday. It's rather nice to have it done and I can finally get rid of the old decaying ice chest.
I got a fire going in the pit to have coals for grilling.
While the boys picked peas I went along the tomato row pushing the tops of the plants through t0he fence when I found one of my Siletz has a flower already. None of the other plants even have a hint of flowers yet so it is going to be interesting to see how much earlier it produces. Just because there is a flower doesn't mean it will set fruit yet.
I grilled burgers for dinner and then toasted the buns. I also worked on packing and gathering the camping gear for today for camping at the scout camp.
Soaking was nice after the morning of weed eating.
The turkeys are a bit obstinate about going in the hut at night and have to be herded in after flushing them from their perches. A few roosters join them but they are faster to jump in the hut.
I have been to town for grain already this morning and will be out emptying the barrels soon. Then I pack up the truck and the boys and I go up to Diamond lake to the scout camp for the night in the tree house.
