The harvests keep going and with the warm weather it is seeming to do wonders for all the plants. The squash gave up 25 pounds while the cucumbers had 20 ready to pick. I am ever so close to having picked 1000 pounds of squash, just need another 39 pounds to surpass it. Last year I picked 1336 pounds of squash over the entire season and I am almost at a 1000 in just 33 days this year.
I had enough cucumbers that I had to use one of the harvest buckets to hold them all. No longer just hand fulls and arm loads. I have them listed for sale on the co-op site so hopefully they will go quickly.
The road construction has been off and on but yesterday they were out early. I saw the grader come down our dead end, turn around and park for a while. I'm pretty sure he was just waiting for the rest of the workers to arrive. Near 7am he drove back out the road then I heard the tandems bringing in the crushed for the road bed. They spent the bulk of the day hauling loads from Spokane and emptying them out onto the road to be spread. They started at the bottom by us and worked their way up the hill. They work four 10 hour days so they don't work on Fridays so likely they were pushing to get it done yesterday.
With out patio umbrella now we have been eating dinner on the deck but the meat bees have been a serious issue. We got the netting yesterday via UPS and I immediately got it setup. The base is filled with water to help keep it locked in place. There is only the one zipper but it works well enough. The true test was when we ate dinner and had only a few straggler flies to worry about.
Mid afternoon I took Jax to the creek to go swim and noticed some issues. It appears that our neighbor went and decided to destroy part of the wall of the pool. My assumption is that he has no clue how the stream works and was trying to increase the flow of water to try and eliminate the scum. What he is ignorant of is the fact that the flow means nothing, it is all dependent on the depth of the water. The shallower the water the more UV gets to the algae and mosses which causes them to grow. There is only a finite flow of water and it is flowing at the full rate out of the pool. Removing rocks does nothing but piss me off and ruin the crawdad habitat.
Once @stryeyz got home from work we went down for our nearly nightly cool off and I spent my time resetting the rocks and fixing what they had screwed up. If they move stuff again I WILL be having words with them considering neither of us owns the creek, we own up to the creek.
Today I am not sure what is going on. I am feeling more and more depressed by the state of the world, the absolute ignorance and complete lack of logic being shown by so many people. It really is sad that so many are ready willing and able to give up all their rights out of fear. I will not get the vaccine, I will not wear a mask again, I will not support anyone who mandates it, and I will try my hardest to not interact with the feeble minded shills that are helping perpetrate this atrocity on the people since they are completely brainwashed and beyond help. The best I can do is focus on myself and my family and try to keep the outside at more than arms length.
God I hope the bulk of the military stands up for themselves and accepts court martials over the vaccine, but it sounds like they are getting treated like less than dirt if they refuse. Seriously this is getting closer and closer to being the Fascist States of America. At least there are some hold outs that are keeping freedoms for their people like South Dakota.
