I actually slept in yesterday morning, for once. Maybe it is the work load that is catching up to me.
I headed out to pick squash and as I was in the midst of the plants a bee hovered nearby then landed on the leaf It was completely coated in pollen and it sat on the leaf rubbing its legs together and by the time it flew off there was a pile of pollen granules on the leaf.
Antiquing with pollen?
The squash gave up 20 pounds which got sorted to their respective bags. I bag the sunburst together, the yellow squash together, and the green types together. The yellow go bad faster so they need to be where they won't ruin a bag of mixed.
Weeding took up most of my day. I got started on the end rows of beans that have been languishing due to the weeds filling in. Just the lower half stuffed the tub.
While I weeded @stryeyz got 3 trays of squash sliced and 2 trays of cucumber. They all went into the freeze dryer after I changed the oil in the compressor. Unseasoned on the first batch we may season the next ones depending on how these come out.
Back weeding the rest of the 2 rows of beans got weeded and it more than filled the tub.
I grabbed one of the huge tubs and ended up filling it and the other tub just from the tops of the bean rows.
@stryeyz and the boys went to our friend's birthday party for their kids and while they were gone I went up on the hill for a mile. I ended up wandering the pen collecting feathers and found a fist full of them.
The beet and chard rows took a while and fully filled the huge tub twice. The weeds were really big and tall and I had to be careful not to hurt the veggie plant's roots.
The sheep and alpaca were overjoyed at the sudden cornucopia of greenery.
My wormwood had been hanging on the line for a while and was nicely dried. I spent some time stripping the leaves and flowers from the stems. It was a bit messy but I ended up over 2 pounds in the bag when done. I need to find a container to put it in to save and I have to cut the last plant today.
Soaked until dark then got the birds put in.
The boys have their swim lessons this morning and I have harvests to get to. More weeding is needed as that was only a few of the many rows done yesterday. I am going to go up and check on the melon garden and I have to get the orders ready for delivery tomorrow morning which means bagging 60 half lb bags of beans. I will do that in the heat of the afternoon today.
