These past two years have been full of uncertainty and challenges for all of us who live on this planet Earth, so many people have left, so many are still confined in a hospital ward suffering from the pandemic and other diseases, that it is impossible that this call to reflection does not echo in me.
I am grateful but extremely thankful for the gift of life to be alive and to know that even in the midst of all the problems and challenges we may have, we have a new opportunity every day to try one more time.
I remember when the pandemic started, I could spend hours and hours reading the news to keep up with world events and the only thing I would read over and over again was the number of people who had died. It is really painful to know how parents lost their children, children their parents, loved ones, recognized people in all areas have been touched by this situation, there really was no exclusivity for anyone because we are all vulnerable.
Sometimes I meditate on how we were advancing as a society, becoming increasingly cold and insensitive to the pain of others, because in a way we were getting used to the indifference, until it became personal and the numbers ceased to be numbers to become people in known and loved names.
It is there where it touches the deepest fiber of your being and you recognize the value of life and of being human.
The illnesses and challenges that we face every day can blind us to the beauty of life, making us downplay the importance of the ordinary and the commonplace that we are accustomed to living.
Our life may sometimes seem meaningless or purposeless, because of all the situations that overwhelm us, but it is in the tests where we manage to glimpse the meaning of our existence and understand extremely important lessons that will mark our path giving meaning to our existence.
I have tried to understand that trials are stepping stones to progress in this sphere and this has allowed me to have the necessary resilience to face them in the best way possible.
Today many of us who are reading this message can look back and understand that we are being polished just as a coal is subjected to high pressures and temperatures to become a diamond, in this way the tests and challenges refine us, as a society we have been put to high pressures that have forced us to improve, to change and be more empathetic, kinder and above all more grateful, only then we will know that all this served for something.
