Spirituality has always been a very important part of every human being that is essential to cultivate. Some people dedicate much more attention to their spiritual life than others, but at the end of the day we all need to have a good connection with God.
Just as there are people who pay more attention to taking care of their body and maintain healthy eating habits, go to the gym and exercise rigorously, there are also people who dedicate themselves to cultivating and developing their spiritual life. Just as these people may or may not need the help of a personal trainer, some people may or may not need the guidance of a spiritual guide, guru or teacher.

The truth is that nowadays we see with greater boom, the fashionable profession "Being a coach", anyone who feels with some practice and knowledge of a particular subject that has given positive results in his life, feels with enough merits to guide others on their way to success and personal, financial, professional, social, emotional, among others.
Spirituality does not escape this reality, although in the past spiritual guides were mystics or religious people with studies and an advanced degree of contemplation, now there are many ideologies that have become a trend precisely because they are dedicated to promoting spiritual growth in a more flexible way, so to speak.
While orthodox and traditional religions tend to be very strict and conservative, these new ideologies tend to adapt a little more to the times we are living in and offer us to reach spirituality with very practical methods.

In my personal opinion, spirituality is that umbilical cord that exists between us and the supreme Being, whether we call Him God or whatever we want to call Him according to our beliefs. That cord that keeps us connected. To put it in a more modern way, it is the Wifi signal that keeps us connected and if our signal is weak our connection will also be weak and therefore it will be much more difficult to hear the messages or understand the signals that are transmitted to us.

Spirituality is something very personal, not all of us connect in the same way with God, for some it is much easier than for others. That is why spiritual growth and development is an intimate process that depends on the sensitivity and life experience of each person.
However, since there are people who have dedicated themselves to develop their spiritual life and have achieved a level of connection a little higher than others; as is the case of priests, pastors or spiritual teachers. It is not superfluous to learn from these people who already have an advanced path. They will be able to guide us, give us advice and recommendations on how we can develop our spirituality.
In my personal case, I must say that a spiritual guide is very helpful in times of tribulation and doubt because these people have already gone through these situations and can guide us on how to overcome them. However, I believe that a guide is not indispensable to be able to grow spiritually. Everything will depend on the will and the desire to achieve a good connection with God.

I firmly believe that faith is a divine gift, we can only have faith if God gives us the gift; and God gives us the gift if we ask for it from the heart. "Ask and it will be given to you" Lk 11:5-13. Therefore, just as a fit body can be achieved with a lot of discipline, constancy and willpower; the connection with God can also be achieved in the same way, creating habits and activities that lead us to care for and nourish our spirit.
In my life I have not had a specific spiritual guide, I am simply inspired by people who show me, with their way of living more than with words or preaching, that they have managed to grow spiritually. From these people I can take suggestions or recommendations and apply them to my personal reality. I do not get carried away by rhetorical speeches of people who are not coherent with their way of acting and their religious beliefs.

In conclusion, going to a spiritual guide to help us achieve a better spiritual life does not take away the merit of wanting to have a better connection with our supreme being. The important thing is not to allow our daily occupations and our eagerness to achieve our goals to prevent us from cultivating our spirituality.
