My post to answer the challenge admin @ecoTrain on edition 10.6 - What should we eat to be healthy and vibrant?
This is a question that relates to the definition and purpose of "eating" for each person. Some people think that humans will eat because there is a hunger urge, this group will eat after there is hunger. Some others think that they will eat according to the time to eat, even though there is no hunger urge, this group will eat because it is time to eat. Some other people will eat if they want to eat regardless of whether their stomach is hungry or full, the most important thing is that this group of people will eat according to their heart's desire.
Eat to live or live to eat?
Humans need nutrients found in food so that the cells of the human body can survive and carry out their activities in life, this means the human philosophy of "eat to live" without food there is no life. then what about the philosophy of "live to eat"? Humans are living beings, which means humans carry out their existence as living things that have one of the characteristics of "requiring food and nutrition", this means that life itself requires food to maintain its existence as living beings, "lives to eat".
Meaning that eating is one way so that humans can maintain their existence as living things that need food. Food is everything that is nutritious and useful for the human body in order to maintain living cells in the body, this means that not all objects can be eaten by humans. So what kinds of foods should we eat to keep us healthy and vibrant?
Answers to questions what should we be eating to be healthy and vibrant?
1.Blessed food
This means that food is obtained in a lawful way and in accordance with the religious teachings adopted by the human being. I believe that every religious teaching teaches its people to eat something halal, halal based on the aspect of how to get the food and halal based on the aspect of whether or not a food is consumed, because of that in every holy book it will be written how to get halal food and any kind of food. which is not permissible for the people to eat. This means that we know that our belief in the halal or haram of a food has a psychological effect on the effect of the food. I give an example of a cat who gets food in the form of a fish from stealing from the dining table, then the cat will not be able to calmly enjoy the fish, he will be restless if suddenly someone finds out that the fish he is eating is stolen, while the cat who gets the food of a fish from the results of our giving, then the cat will eat voraciously and calmly. as well as us, when we are eating and we know that the food is the result of our hard work from working not the result of robbing, then we will be hungry and calm in enjoying the food. We are more excited to live this mortal life with blessed food, I hope, we always get blessed food and God make it easy for us to get blessed food.
2.Nutritious food according to our body's needs
Not everyone needs the same amount of nutrients for the body, because everyone is born "unique" with genes that have different characteristics, meaning that everyone's needs for a nutrient are also different. There are humans who are born with a stomach size that is smaller than other humans, so the portion of food is also different from other people. Some need more protein for their body's growth, some need more carbohydrates for their body's energy or maybe some need more fat to maintain a longer digestibility time for their body.
This means that everyone should know what his body needs more in order to stay healthy and vibrant in life. Our bodies need nutrients and it is our job to choose what nutrients our bodies need most, not looking for food that our body wants to eat. My advice is that we don't need to follow other people's lifestyles, the most important thing is that we know what our bodies need to stay healthy and vibrant in life. We know that our bodies need more fresh vegetables and fruits than meat, so why don't we fulfill our body's needs? we actually eat more meat because our bodies want it!
3.How to cook and seasoning affect our health
I always hear people say "organic fruits and vegetables are better than conventionally grown vegetables and fruits with manure" I honestly don't agree with this opinion, why? Because not all people in this world can afford to buy organic vegetables and fruits which are more expensive than vegetables and fruits that are widely traded in the market, vegetables and fruits are grown with factory fertilizers. organic vegetables and fruits also undergo "special treatment" for their growth, the difference lies in what nutrients are used to make them grow, are you sure that these expensive organic vegetables and fruits (for most people) will meet the nutritional needs of the your body? Then do people who consume organic vegetables and fruits have better health levels? does not seem! Because the way we cook and the spices we use will affect the nutrition and taste of our food. I give an example like this, when in Indonesia there are many raw food ingredients such as fish and tofu that are given formalin (the use of formalin for food is not allowed and is against the law) by irresponsible people, then does everyone immediately fall ill after consuming the food with formalin? No.
Traditional people who mostly have a low economy, they soak fish and tofu which are rumored to be formalin with lime juice and some use turmeric juice to neutralize the formaldehyde and the results are that they are healthy until now, even though the fish and tofu they eat have been tested in the laboratory and tested positive for formalin. Based on these events, various studies emerged to minimize the levels of formalin contained in foodstuffs.
Indonesian traditional society uses a lot of herbs and spices in processing food ingredients, this makes the dishes more appetizing and nutritious because the spices used in cooking contain many chemical compounds that are useful for our health. So I personally think organic vegetables and fruits are no better than vegetables and fruits that are usually sold in the market. But I totally agree that if vegetables and fruits that come from the wild (grown without being cared for) have better nutritional content, vegetables and fruits can grow and bear fruit because they get enough nutrients from nature. This damage in nature occurs because of the greed of mankind who always wants things that are not needed.
we can also cook with little or no oil is better for our bodies, because cooking oil contains more saturated fatty acids which can increase bad cholesterol levels and replace it with a soupy dish rich in selected spices.
4.Traditional food rich in spices
Indonesian children who live in modern times are more familiar with pizza, burgers or hotdogs than cenel, lapis or gado gado (traditional Indonesian food), therefore there must be a community group that cares to keep traditional recipes from becoming extinct. Why should we preserve traditional cuisine? Because traditional cuisine is one of the national identity. Indonesia is famous for its cuisine rich in spices and selected spices because Indonesia is a spice-producing country, other countries have recognized the privileges of Indonesian cuisine which is rich in spices such as Rendang, Rawon, Arsik carp (using andaliman fruit which can only be found on the Sumatra island).
Foods that contain lots of spices and have a spicy taste will arouse appetite and enthusiasm. When I am sick, usually I will look for spicy food to restore my health and spirit.
That's my answer to this week's question, thank you for reading my writing.
