Hello everyone and welcome to my blog at this hour. It's a beautiful new week and it's good to be starting off with my entry for the ecotrain question of the week. This week we'd be focusing on overpopulation. Is the world overpopulated or not? Why is it overpopulated and how do we control overpopulation? These are some of the pressing issues that we will be addressing. Well, sit back, relax and enjoy all that I have packaged for your reading pleasure.

Explaining overpopulation in a simple parlance is if 150 - 200 people are living in a place that is supposed to be for about 100 people. In addition, in this kind of situation the resources that is supposed to be utilized by about 100 people will be used by the 200 people which will lead to shortage and scarcity. So, let us streamline this illustration to our world today. According to research we have billions of people in the world and we continue to increase day by day as a result of rapid childbirth. But are we truly overpopulated?
With reference to the illustration I made above we can conclude that some Cities, States and Countries in the world are overpopulated. The reason for this is not farfetched and it has to do with the fact that some Cities, States and Countries presents more opportunities than the others, therefore, more people move to these locations to get a share of the "milk and honey" that is flowing. In Nigeria, for instance, there are some States such as Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, etc where people believe to be better than others in terms of job opportunities, business connections, etc. So, overpopulation is a major concern in these areas.
On a wider note, there are some countries around the world that people prefer to migrate because they also provide better opportunities to them. Most Africans are of the opinion that countries in Europe are better than their home country so they prefer to move to these countries in their number thereby increasing the population of the country. In addition, the aftermath of war can also be the cause of overpopulation. Due to war, families have to run for safety to neighboring countries or to their country of origin. This can as well increase the population of people in such area.
Solutions
Firstly, the major cause of overpopulation is the high rate of childbirth and if this is controlled the rate of overpopulation will be controlled massively. There should be laws and regulations in place that will help to control childbirth.
Secondly, each country should find a way to improve the standard of living of their citizens so that so many people wouldn't have the reasons of relocating to other countries which end up being overpopulated.
