Is there any single day, when we don't compare ourselves with anyone else? I guess not. It can happen on social media or in real life. It's nearly impossible to not compare ourselves with others' appearance, success, achievement, and whatnot. But that doesn't make it 'fine' or 'normal'. This behavior actually kills us.
How?
- We can talk about how comparison affects our self-esteem for hours. Not only that, comparing ourselves with others kills our potential too. It makes us want the same thing when in reality we can do so much more. It blocks the path to generate new ideas and kills our creativity too.
You can get some perfect examples from social media trending. You will see, how everyone is in a toxic game to be and look like each other.
Now coming to the understanding!
People will never make you understand 'how comparing yourself with others is hampering you until you notice it'. Maybe this writing will also not make you believe. Just try to realize how your mental health stat is going? How comparison is affecting you emotionally? What benefits you are getting from comparison?
Asking these questions to ourselves can help us understand 'what we are doing wrong'!
- We all have different purposes in life, different understanding about life, and we come with different potential. Competing for the same thing may not make us happy. When you fill your life with gratefulness, gratitude, and appreciate what you have, that's when you get yourself out from this toxic culture successfully.
Take a moment to realize, step back if you are in continuous comparison, dig into your potential, give yourself a chance to go against the flow. Life will give you many more in return!
