Hello everyone, some time ago I ventured to watch my first kdrama or series with this type of characteristics and, searching among many that appeared, one caught my attention, so, after watching and analyzing it, today I will tell you a little, being my first interaction in this community, what it was like for me to see "No Game No Love"
Hola a todos, hace algún tiempo me aventure a ver mi primer kdrama o serie con este tipo de características y, buscando entre algunas tantas que me aparecieron, una captó mi atención, por lo que, luego de verla y analizarla, hoy les comentaré un poco, siendo mi primera interacción en esta comunidad, lo que fue para mí ver "No Game No Love".
To give some background information, this 12-episode series is from 2024 and is released on Prime Video. It tells the story of Son Hae Yeong, a woman with a peculiar personality and a win-win attitude. She'll find herself embroiled in an adventure where, to score a point, she'll have to fake a wedding to reap the benefits through a plot filled with drama, romance, and comedy.
Para dar un poco de información previa, esta serie es del año 2024 por parte de Prime Video, conformada en 12 capítulos, donde nos cuenta la historia de Son Hae Yeong, siendo esta una mujer con una forma peculiar de ser y una actitud de solo ganar. Se verá envuelta en toda una aventura donde, para conseguir un punto, tendrá que fingir una boda para obtener los beneficios de esta a través de una trama llena de drama, romance y comedia.
When I started this series, I noticed the comedy element; this reminded me and made me nostalgic for previous series I'd watched, soap operas from years past where simple humor or humor combined perfectly with the setting. There aren't a large number of characters, so it allowed me to better understand the story.
Al iniciar esta serie, me pude fijar en el factor comedia; esto me recordó y dio nostalgia a series anteriores que llegué a ver, telenovelas de años atrás donde un humor simple o en conjunto con el entorno armonizaba de manera perfecta. No hay una cantidad grande de personajes, por lo que me permitió comprender mejor de qué trataba la historia.
Each episode lasts just over an hour, so at first I found it a bit exhausting to watch even the first three episodes, mostly because I wasn't yet hooked on the story. However, within the episode, there were moments that made me sympathize with the personality and irony of the kdrama's co-star and some of the alternate stories that unfold. However, as the episode progressed, I became more and more immersed in each trailer, and it became easier to watch each episode, and they began to feel short.
Cada capítulo dura poco más de 1 hora, por lo que en un principio me estaba algo extenuante ver incluso los primeros 3 capítulos, más que todo porque aún no me enganchaba con la historia; sin embargo, dentro de este, hubo momentos que hacían que fuera simpatizando con la forma de ser y la ironía del coprotagonista del kdrama y alguna de las historias alternas que se van desarrollando. Sin embargo, conforme fue avanzando, cada vez más me fui sumergiendo en cada avance y comenzó a ser más ligero ver cada capítulo y se me empezaron a hacer cortos.
I really like how everything unfolds smoothly and how it always blends comedy with drama. Even though it's sometimes predictable, it's still enjoyable. It doesn't just focus on the main story, but in my case, I was very involved and focused on how the story of a writer character develops. I really liked it and had a lot of fun with it. So you're not necessarily just watching the main characters, which I liked.
Me gusta mucho cómo se va dando todo de manera fluida y cómo siempre se va mezclando la comedia con el drama y, aunque en ocasiones sea predecible, es algo que se puede disfrutar. No solo se centra en lo principal, sino que, en mi caso, estaba muy metida y enfocada en cómo se desarrolla la historia de un personaje que es escritora, con quien simpaticé y me divertí mucho, por lo que no necesariamente te hace solo estar viendo a los protagonistas, lo cual me gustó.
In terms of how each character develops and confronts their personal problems and, in some cases, traumas, we even get to see a realistic, non-fantastical side, as we deal with situations like abandonment and isolation, and even touch on topics like open relationships and what they entail, such as insecurities and how even the simplest things can cause problems. It also touches on a topic I liked: communication, and how it plays a fundamental role in how we put it into practice and the negative aspects when it's not healthy or sincere.
A nivel de cómo cada personaje desarrolla y afronta sus problemas personales y, en algunos casos, traumas, hace que incluso lleguemos a ver un lado realista y no fantasioso, ya que tenemos situaciones como abandono, aislamiento e incluso tocan temas como relaciones abiertas y lo que conlleva en todo lo que son las inseguridades y cómo incluso lo más simple puede generar un problema. Así mismo, toca un tema que me gustó, que es la comunicación y cómo esta juega un papel fundamental en cómo lo ponemos en práctica y los aspectos negativos cuando no es sana o sincera.
As I progressed through the chapters, I began to understand in a little more detail the relationship that was forming between the protagonists, which, at the time and as an interesting fact, caused a stir in the fan community due to issues of age difference and being a little different from the usual romances, but personally, the fact that it had ups and downs and moments of lack of control made me see it as more realistic, so I give it a more positive point.
Conforme avanzaba en los capítulos, fui entendiendo un poco más a detalle la relación que se va formando entre los protagonistas, lo cual, a su tiempo y como dato interesante, causó revuelo en la comunidad de fans por temas de diferencia de edad y ser un poco distinta a los romances acostumbrados, pero personalmente, el que tuviera altibajos y momentos de no control me hizo verla más realista, por lo que le doy un punto más positivo.
Likewise, in terms of expectations, these were almost completely fulfilled. I liked the final development of each character, and I liked the main characters too, but because of the irony that I got so caught up in the story that I wanted to know more. I found it funny because what started as a problem and a desperation to understand ended with a feeling of satisfaction and a desire for more chapters, as well as drawing inspiration from each aspect of each character.
Así mismo, en cuanto a expectativas, estas las cumplió casi por completo. Me gustó el desarrollo final de cada personaje y, en cuanto a los principales, también me gustó, pero por la ironía de que me metí tanto en la historia que quería saber más, lo cual me fue gracioso porque lo que inició con un problema y un desespero por entender terminó en esa sensación de agrado y de querer más capítulos, así como inspirándome un poco de cada aspecto de uno que otro personaje.
For my first kdrama, the fact that it led me to talk and share every feeling the episodes left me with is a clear indication that I really enjoyed it. I'd give it an 8/10 due to some somewhat complicated scenes at the beginning, which I'm not used to and found hard to digest. However, it does capture the reality of what it means to fake situations and what can sometimes be done because of them. I would also recommend it without hesitation, as it allows for a wide range of appreciation and different tastes.
Para ser mi primer kdrama, el hecho de que me haya llevado a conversar y compartir cada sensación que me dejaban los capítulos con mi hermana indica muy bien que me gustó mucho. En puntaje le daría un 8/10 debido a unas escenas algo complicadas al inicio, a las que no estoy acostumbrada y me costó digerir, pero, sin embargo, representa mucho esa realidad de lo que es el aparentar situaciones y lo que a veces se llega a hacer por ello. Así mismo, también sin problemas la recomendaría, ya que permite esa versatilidad de apreciación y gustos distintos.
I feel like it would be a series to watch with family or friends, as it's enjoyable and balanced; and as for the music or soundtrack, it's very calm, which complements the series well. So, here's my brief review of this kdrama. I hope you enjoy it, and thank you very much for reading.
Siento que sí sería una serie para ver en familia o con amigos, ya que permite disfrutar y tiene equilibrio; y en cuanto a música o banda sonora, es muy tranquila, lo cual acompaña bien la serie.
