How exactly did I get to know about this drama? I'd been seeing people talk about Rumi being their favourite character. I had no idea who Rumi was, so I always scrolled past. It wasn't till I was with a gathering of people I was comfortable enough to talk around, that I asked what they thought about this movie everyone seemed to be talking about.
It was at that moment I knew I was missing out on something big. Everyone reacted like I'd said the impossible. I watched it that same day, and boy, I totally understand why they'd reacted the way they did.
Source For those that have watched Kpop Demon Hunters, you remember the hold Saja Boys had on almost everyone in the town, that's literally what Huntrix has on so many of us in the real world. You mean I now have to depend on Golden, everytime I need an energy boost? Since the day I watched kpop demon hunters, which was few weeks after it's release, Golden is one song I haven't passed a day without listening to.
When I came across the Korean Hive Village prompt for this week, I smiled because this was a prompt I wouldn't want to miss. This animation, of the very few animations I've watched this year, tops the list. I don't even know why I wasn't so thrilled, after seeing the trailer. Probably the trailer didn't just have that hooking effect, like the actual movie did.
I don't have one favourite thing about K-pop Demon Hunters. The entire animation was a masterpiece so I mean liking just one thing about it isn't right, is it? But first things first, let's talk about the songs. The rhythms are everything to me. I've loved kpop way before I watched this movie, and I even enjoyed songs from the girl band Twice prior to watching this movie, so maybe I was always bound to fall in love.
From Golden, to Free, to How It Sounds Like, and to Takedown, I'm obsessed with each of them in different proportions. As much as rhythm influences my choice of song, lyrics are a huge determining factor. I Iove that all the songs revolve around self discovery and so, there's no reason why I won't love them. You see how I'm ranting? The truth is I don't really know why I love them. I just do.
Source Now, can we talk about the freshness of this plot? This storyline isn't something we've seen rewritten in different ways. I love the fact that the storyline is something new, and still did a good job with the audience's attention. Amidst all these, there's also the fact that you don't get to forget that this was a Korean animation. From the songs, to actual displays in the movie, I was reminded instantly of what I was missing by not watching K-dramas recently. A lot.
The fact that Ahn Hyo-Seop, voiced Jinu was another random that I liked. I liked his role in Business Proposal, and seeing that he voiced Jinu, just endeared the animation to me, few minutes before I even got down to watching. I guess the issue of, once a fangirl, always a fangirl, came to fruition here.
I think I've said a lot about my love for this. Or maybe I haven't. I have just reached my word count. But if you haven't watched kpop demon hunters, you're definitely missing a great deal. Give yourself the pleasure, and watch it. Or if you have, it would be nice to share what you liked about it, here in this community.
Thanks for reading.
