My Cousins who visited me sometime back, he was looking out to buy a Chess game. I absolutely had no clue where to take him to get him one and then we happened to visit the Royal Opera where they have a connecting Mall. This is one of the finest mall in the city with the top most brands available here. And being so exclusive, there are very few people that I could see in the mall. Sometimes I wonder, how do these guys sustain when business can be as poor as this. First of all the rents of these exclusive places are high and then there is hardly any sale happening. One of my friend who works for one such boutique mentioned to me, that even if these guys manage to see one piece a day or one in 2 days, it is good business for them.
The Mall was connecting to the Opera, and since we were there, after the mall visit I took them to the Opera as well.
The setting of the Mall is neat, but I cannot see a single person around. There is a cute coffee shop with all flowery background. The thing about these coffee shops is I would love to sit in these places and enjoy a cup of coffee but my lactose intolerant gut does not allow me to and I can only look at them from far. I do enjoy a herbal or a green tea if available, but most of them do not serve.
That's a fancy Horse Statue, my nephew wanted to sit up on it and made a lot of fuss, some how we had to control him. My nephew is a bundle of high shooting energy and he would keep running around the place. So difficult to control him, and I am scared that he should not damage anything, else paying up there means may be even my one salary would not be enough.
There's a flower shop in the mall, where they had this fancy heart flower arrangement. These are fake flowers, but they looked nothing less then real. A charming backdrop for photoshoots.
Finally we found the Chess game, a very unique one, and that's what exactly my cousin was looking for. They had other sets also, but those were very common one. This was a unique one, giving a picture of a battle field set up in the Indian way. When we checked out the price of the game, my cousin had to drop the idea of buying it. It was more than a thousand dollars. It's a classy collection but the price, ooooofff too much. This is one of the antique piece, so the price is also as per that.
In Mumbai, there are these small markets which are called as Chor Bazaar, basically a Thieves market, where you find antiques like these at a throw away price. I told my cousin, that next time when he visits Mumbai, he should take a look there.
After the Mall, we visited the Opera. I always love coming back to this place. It's stylish, elegant and a reflection of royalty.
