Women are usually very busy as they have to keep up with catering for the home and also secular work.
Balance is very important, and to be balanced, one needs to create time off to just breathe. #ME-time.
Well for me, how do I spend my ME time? Journey with me as I take you on this ride.
Firstly, I don't joke with my space, let me call it my room. It is more like my sanctuary where I feel safe, sane, happy, and at peace.
I ensure my room is always neat, and smells nice as it helps my meditation time.
I also ensure my bed is laid smoothly, dim lighting and there's music in the background to light up the room, as, the choice of music, depends on my mood. Some days I just wanna dance away my sorrow and so I listen to hip-hop music, while other days I choose to listen to RnB.
Now, Prayer is one of my self-care routines when I am alone, I pray for my loved ones, and my success, I share my burdens with God and then I feel the peace of God.
Writing is also my me time routine, I remember just last week, I took a long walk from my house to a calm resort that was not so close to my house, I had the money to take a bus, but then I just didn't feel like taking a bus, I took the long walk with my earpiece stuck in my ear and then I walked to the resort, I gave myself a good treat and then brought out my phone, clicked on my diary app and started to write, I was so engrossed in it that I spent almost 4hours out alone, the funny thing is, I noticed how people looked at me like, why is she all alone? I bet they didn't know I was enjoying my own company, they must have thought I was broken or hurt๐น๐น๐น, but far from that, I just wanted my time out alone.
Am I the only one doing this? I talk to myself all alone in my room during my me-time, (Meditation) like I see myself as having an imaginary friend, I tell myself things I possibly can't share with others, holding my teddy bear or pillow. I speak positivity into my life too during my ME time, I have learned to create happiness around myself and that I don't depend on others to be happy.
Learning new skills, I for one am someone who loves to learn new things, which is why I have been able to stay creative.
During my ME -time I could choose to learn something new on #Youtube. Either cooking a meal that's not so common in my community, upgrading my fashion skills, listening to upbuilding podcasts on Spotify, or seeing movies on Netflix. I alternate them.
Last week, during the public holiday, I took it upon myself to see the trending movies on Netflix, I saw two movies per day for three consecutive days, it was refreshing, as I've always been working and working, I just took the time off to Netflix and chill๐น.
Singing out loud, omg!!! I could just stay indoors singing all the songs I love back to back, I am a music lover so, listening to music and singing along gives me calmness and happiness, I do that when I want a me-time to relax my nerves.
Reading!!! I enjoy reading during my ME time too, especially motivational books and reading my Bible too.
Lastly, my ME time also includes decluttering my closet (wardrobe) fitting old outfits that are still cool, doing away with those I think I don't want anymore, fitting shoes, and bags, and looking for new ways to style old outfits in a new way ๐น, caring for my skin, (manicure and pedicure) and taking nice selfies to admire me after looking fresh with no intention to go out or post them.๐น๐น๐นJust because I am my number one fan and cheerleader. (You know those pictures that don't make it to your social media handles, just for fun and cruise)
Image is mine, I used the cartoon app to design it
Here is my response to this week's prompt.
By @nainaztengra2๏ธโฃ Your "ME time" is very important and for us women especially those who are homemakers. We tend to get so involved in the day-to-day affairs of the home, that we forget that we need self-care and attention as well as time for ourselves. Do you have a "ME time?" How do you spend that "ME time?" Share your "ME time," whether it is engaging yourself in a hobby, or an activity that brings pleasure to you and calms your mind, and brings happiness to you.
