I love my quiet moments, there's no doubt about that and it's one of the things I appreciate the most in our lil kingdom because those moments are plenty. They keep me sane and feeling good, stress-free and mostly cheerful. And when there, I do not really require any "ME" time because I feel every moment is truly mine even when the husband is around. And if ever I'm not myself (which rarely happens), I just go for a walk around the yard (talk to my plants), take a nap, go for a stroll to the nearby dirt road, or trek up the hill and I'd be alright in no time.
Things are different here at our other place though. With the noise around (cars, trucks and motorbikes passing by, their honking, occasional sounds of various machines running and what else, I'm definitely in need of some real "ME" moments each day. I wouldn't last long here but because I want to tend to mom while she isn't well, I have to put up with all the inconveniences.
Noise is certainly my number one pet peeve. And whilst I can survive, it affects my general well-being that I feel my physical strength dwindles away (drained), there's that ringing sensation in my ear, as if the head's going to explode, mood swings etcetera. It usually takes a while for my body to recover. This may sound extreme but it's truly tough being used to a serene environment and then suddenly getting exposed to the opposite ambiance.
So how do I give myself its own peace?
Taking short naps during the day helps me a lot. When the husband is around, I'd tell him that I'm gonna need some sleep and he knows what that means - no disturbing. I then lock the windows, close all the curtains, play some soft music on speaker at the living room and then go to bed until I doze off. I usually wake up after some 30 minutes or when not bothered, I enjoy the snooze to an hour or so. This has been a wonderful way for me to replenish my energy.
This week, I've also been re-watching some action-packed films (Jack Reacher, John Wick, Fast & Furious) although I don't get to finish them to the end. I feel they are a good way to release some looming anxiety.
I also found out that the full-body massage I get each Monday is doing some wonders. Whilst it is not a real "alone" time, it's at least one great way to get a little pampering and I do take a good nap after the masseuse leaves.
On most days, I would just spend here on Hive. If I ain't reading and engaging on long-form contents, I'm usually on LeoThreads curating, interacting or simply creating random threads. Hive has become a wonderful hobby for me, a good place to be each and every day.
These are just some of how I give myself its own time these days. I may discover more in the coming weeks, after all, we've just been here less than a month.
This is my response to the second question of this week's LoH prompt by nainaztengra, re:
Your "ME time" is very important and for us women especially who are homemakers. We tend to get so involved in the day-to-day affairs of the home, that we forget that we need self-care and attention as well and time for ourselves. Do you have a "ME time?" How do you spend that "ME time?" Share your "ME time," whether it is engaging yourself in a hobby, or an activity which brings pleasure to you and calms your mind and brings happiness to you.
Cheers to a fantastic day!
