Hello!
I am Jacinta.
This is my entry for the Ladies of Hive Community Contest #135.
What are my top life changing hacks? And how did I do them and how much did it change my life?
Etc.
Alrighty so the following hacks are what I pondered to be the ones I'm happiest about and of course they have HELPED me a ton through many of my life journeys. Some may not seem like much but it's still a life hack nonetheless πππ
π§Hack No.5
LEARN ANY FOREIGN LANGUAGE YOU CAN
One of my phrasebooks here and my german homework. π€
Now this may be really subjective as it is not everyone's cup of tea.
However for me I love languages and learning a few has helped me interact and make connections with people either at the local neighborhood, work, online or even simply meeting other people at school. This is super handy anywhere, anytime even in emergencies.
Simply buying a phrasebook or dictionary helps and you'll have some new hobby that can actually help you. If not, there are many language apps and websites that actually teach for free.
I've learned languages like German, Japanese, Mandarin, Korean and to read and write a bit of Russian and Hebrew. And I do not regret it one bit!
This is the beauty and diversity of linguistics. Try it! π

IF YOU CAN'T BRING ANYTHING ELSE, JUST MAKE SURE YOU HAVE SOMETHING FOR YOUR LIPS
My favourite organic tinted lip balms. My before and after picture.
A simple make up tip for us ladies. Wearing lipstick changes your look even without the other eye or cheek contouring make up.
The lips are of a red hue for a reason.
Red is an attractive color that draws eyes on it. For one, the mouth is where words come from. It points our focus on it. Second, that's the food's point of entry. That's got to catch some symbolic significance visually.
But the third is?
It attracts us to the face.
Lips and eyes are the main stars of the face.
One of the least bothersome area and quick solution is ππ lippies.
I definitely follow this rule and when there's no special event I just have lipbalms in my bag. It's handy and practical. Makes my bag so much lighter haha.

HULA HOOP, THE GREATEST INDOOR WORK OUT
My hulahoop at home and a modeling gig I did way back. Yes, it is my only work out routine to this day.
One of the easiest way to lose weight (for me) is doing hulahoop.
- I either do 10-15 minutes for fitness
- or 30-40 minutes
(I would not recommend an hour) every other day if I wanted to lose weight.
I read an article that says hulahoop is equivalent to jogging. And it improves your core.
When I was a bit rounder back then I tried to do 30 minutes or more daily for 2 weeks. I lost 6-7 pounds.
But of course that includes eating healthy and eating with caution. No soft drinks or sweets after 6pm.
This may or may not work for others. This depends on your body. You know yourself best but this is a good indoor work out to try.
This has helped me so much since I never have the stamina to jog daily but this I can do easily in my room and I still feel energized and doing something for my health.
π§ Hack No. 2
I STOPPED BUYING SILVER AND STARTED BUYING GOLD
Collection from blacksmith made to pawn shop picks.
Why is this a life hack? Because gold is investment. It may be a micro investment and long term but it's fashionable and wearable.
By the time it increases value it is as if you never spent on it and you'll get more out of the price increase per gram.
I decided to stop buying silver jewelry because I realized I could not benefit from it and I'm not getting my money's worth.
Buying an affordable jewelry piece from the pawnshop will eventually increase value in a couple of years leaving you with more value to your piece. Money earned by owning a treasure π
Jewelry facts:
π Diamonds do not have value when it comes to pawning.
- Meaning to say, if you bought a diamond ring that has 3 grams of gold (18k) that costs (β±3,200.00) and a 2 carat diamond that cost (β±50,000), the pawning value will be estimated on gold ONLY. If they would add a little value to your diamond it will only be around a few thousands but definitely less than what you bought the jewel for.
So if you want to buy something of worth buy more grams of gold rather than per carat of diamond.
π 14k gold is more durable than 18k
- Just a tip, if you want gold that is durable for wear and tear. Choose 14k. It has less gold in the solution however it is cheaper and less prone to scratches.
π Moissanite gems have a rainbow refraction/ sparkle and is much brighter than natural diamonds. This is more ethical at times and is a cheaper alternative.
π The best part in buying in pawnshops is you can have good finds like real sapphire and diamonds but it comes for free because you'll only actually pay for the gold which has the true market value.
Try it!
This of course has changed my perspective in buying what my money is worth. And something that impacts my life better and something I can pass on to my children or family.

TYING YOUR HAIR WITHOUT A CLIP OR RUBBER BAND
Three step process, applicable for long hair only.
I started doing this when I was in elementary π
For those who don't know, yes there is a way to keep your hair up without a tie.
Step 1
- Create a secure and firm low bun.
Step 2
- From the side of your hair take a group of hairs and tug it out to make it a bit loose. When there is enough space:
Step 3
- Carefully insert the hair bun in.
Here's a video I did but it is not too clear:
I am not even sure why this is hack no.1, it's just useful and I've been doing this eversince cause my hair is thick and my hair ties either cut or i always lose them. I think this is fun π.
May it help all the women in need. ππ€βοΈ
I'm delighted to be able to share anything I know.
Glad to also read from other writers. Nice to meet all of you!
There was so many things I wanted to share but for now I chose what seemed most achievable and practical.
