Some people might say I'm lonely as I seldom go out with a group of friends, and I am on my own most of the time. However, going out with them won't give me genuine happiness, but dismay. So I will rather be alone than be with non-genuine people.
I have real friends in my country. And thinking about the last bonding with them, it was the night before I embarked on a new journey to Manila and abroad. Unfortunately, I have no decent photos to share here. I just couldn't find one. It was probably on my old phone.
When I worked here abroad, I found some friends. They were my travel buddies back in the day. We used to visit beautiful places on holidays. They were my company during Christmas and other special holidays. They were those who inspired me to travel around Hong Kong.
However, some things happened unexpectedly that made our friendship dull. We never hate each other or fought over something. Communication just stopped between us and we lost the desire to be united as a group again, especially when we parted in different ways. Different schedules even made it worse. Until one found new friends. The other one went back home for good.
From four members, it became three. Then from three members, it became two. Then "a genuine one would stay." Among all friends that I met here, I'm only constantly connecting with Rachelle who I feel most comfortable with. She's my buddy on some of my travel journeys.
Rachelle and me when we were just a few months old here. You can tell by the younger face, short haircut, and smaller body frame, haha.
So far, our friendship is now six years and counting.
When I saw the LOH 146 topic, it made me sad, to be honest.
When was the last time you actually got out for the day and enjoyed being with friends and doing something fun that you wanted to do?
It's funny to think that we are in the same region, and this is just small. Yet, it seems hard for us to be together because most of the time, we have different holiday schedules. When I'm free, she's on duty. When she's free, I'm on duty. Now that she has a regular Sunday holiday schedule with her new employer, it's still hard for us to see each other since she'll be going back to school.
So her holidays would be spent studying for the following three years, and it would be hard for her to travel anymore. Thus, I'll be on my own again. It is even more difficult on her part. Balancing work and studies is challenging. It was actually me who pursue her to go back to school and get a diploma for plans. So as a friend, all I can do is support her in her new endeavor, and I just wish her the best.
Thinking about the last time we saw each other, it was in January. Quite long, isn't it? But we didn't have a good bonding that time. We just went to HK University in the afternoon to catch autumn foliage. We just took photos, did some chit-chat, and parted ways again.
Which legs do you think are mine?
The last real bonding with her that I can remember is during our last hike to a mountain. It was during our journey to Kam Sui Shek Teng. We are both nature lovers and adventurers. So backpacking is something we both enjoy doing. When she was given a few months' rest last year, we took that opportunity to bond and travel.
We used to hike mountains and visit the hidden gems of Hong Kong. She was the one who inspired me to go back to traveling again after years of hiatus.
On that day in the spring of 2022, I can say that we had a great bonding in the mountain, haha. Climbing this mountain was a bit challenging and we almost got lost in the trail. We took paved paths and rocky steep hills. We ventured through the untamed wilderness with tall grasses and wild trees. And lack of direction posts and unidentifiable intersections which made us difficult to know the right trail to follow.
Vast greenery stretched before us and some wild grasses were even taller than us, lol. And look who's using a hand fan while hiking? The scorching sun just made our hike more difficult and all we wanted that day was to find a good shade under tree canopies. This lady even brought an umbrella with her. As if she don't want to get toasted under the sun.
She might be small, but amazing. A well-determined lady. That's why I like her.
But our tiredness faded each time we stop by and appreciate the beauty of nature along the way. We both love photographing nature and art, and that's our other way of bonding.
Reminiscing those good moments made me laugh, especially at the time when we both wanted to take photos on the rocks by the cliff. While I was comfortable climbing from one spot to another and standing by the cliff, she was, on the other hand, struggling to reach the top of the rock as her legs are shorter, lol.

She's a person who likes adventure but is afraid of heights. However, in the end, she managed to climb and we both had souvenir photos. The fifth photo above was the summit rock and she managed to climb it too. I felt proud of her that day that she somehow conquered her fear of heights.

That's how I can explain how I felt in our last bonding, and I so missed her. Hopefully, sooner, we could travel together again.
