Hello everyone. Welcome back to the Ladies of Hive weekly contest. This Community was created to empower, support and encourage all ladies on Hive in a positive environment where they can flourish. When time permits, I love to participate in the contests given the thought-provoking questions and topics. This week I'll share with you my favorite thing this time of year. After picking myself up from the floor from sheer shock, I'll also divulge how I'd spend one millions dollars.

What is your favorite thing about this time of year?
Autumn, or Fall season as I refer to it, is the most delightful time of the year for me. The sights, sounds, smells, food, and good cheer make for a wonderful season to enjoy all festivities, especially the food.

I love all that the holiday season brings. But one thing that you usually don't do at any other time is cook or enjoy the holiday food.
The aromas of the meats, side dishes, and the desserts with all the spices just fill your home with smells you usually don't get any other time of the year.
Of course with food comes family and friends to enjoy it with. Whether it's a traditional sit-down dinner or just come for a quick visit, then grab a fabulous goodie bag, the fun of sharing what you have with others is the spirit of the season.
When I speak of holiday food, it doesn't have to be the traditional meal. In the U.S., traditional meals normally consist of turkey, ham and all the fixings that usually accompany it, such as cranberry sauce and gravy.
Years ago, our family would make sure we had plenty of these items. I'd spend an exorbitant amount to ensure this. It was a mindset.
Thankfully, we evolved and realized it's not about what you eat. It's about having enough food for your family. Recent years, we've shifted to creating special holiday meals for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Eve that we love to eat. We've tailored our meal to consist of the following:

Delicious Cabbage Dish prepared by me
- Smoked Turkey Legs
- Rotisserie Chicken
- Cajun or dirty rice
- Cornbread Dressing
- Yams and Baked potatoes
- Cabbage / Turnip Greens / Green beans / Black-eyed Peas
- Sweet Potato Pie
- Buttermilk (Chess) Pie
- Sock-it-to-me Pound Cake
- And of course, Cranberry Sauce. What would a meal be without it!
So my favorite thing this time of year would be the aromas that fill our home from the various foods. Then sharing those foods with loved ones.

How would you spend one million dollars?
This is perhaps the most easiest question I have ever had to answer. Anyone who knows me is aware of my passion for ending child hunger. Having been raised in a small community and having a background of not being well off, I understood at an early age what it's like for children to be deprived of basic needs.
This is especially true when it comes to having enough nourishment on a daily basis.

I know that child hunger is an issue that may never be truly eradicated from the world.
With my first millions dollars I miraculously receive, I'll set up a company for my efforts to end child hunger in the U.S. first, then worldwide. I'll try to cover as many countries as possible with the money available.
Next, I'll have fundraisers to bring as many investors in. Incentives will also be used.
However, I do realize that just giving someone a meal is not the answer. Changing the conditions of families brought down to this position in the first place is the real underlying cause that needs to be addressed.
Not only will it take my one million dollars, but millions of dollars from generous souls around the world to fight this situation together. It's been too many years ongoing with no change in sight. There has to be a solution. We just need to work together to solve it.
Next, with the funds received from investing my first million, I plan to assist my family. We all have dreams. Whatever their dreams are, I'll help uplift them.
Whether it's home or business ownership, or just to alleviate their financial situation, I'll provide some assistance to them so they can start fresh on a new path. I'll also show them how to manage and invest or provide them with resources so they learn can be self-sufficient.
It shouldn't take a million dollars to do that. Just a helping hand.
