Y llegó mi cumple yupiii y estoy feliz porque aunque suene a cliché lo mas maravillosos de la vida es tener salud para seguir cumpliendo tus metas, tener una familia hermosa que te apoya y buenas personas a tu alrededor. Y hablando de metas hoy estaba en una reunión donde se estaba discutiendo sobre como hacer que los jóvenes se interesen mas por la ciencia y me puse a pensar que muy pocas niñas se interesan por este mundo y creo que es porque después de que entras a una carrera científica tu vida cambia completamente. Yo tengo una amiga que desde que nos graduamos ella decidió irse a trabajar a una petrolera y allí como mujer tienes que luchar mucho para abrirte n camino hoy día vive en otro país y está muy comoda a nivel económico pero nunca logró formar una familia algo que ella siempre quiso y se arrepiente de eso, a eso me refiero con que la vida cambia haces unos planes y resultan otros.
El mundo de la ciencia ya no es como hace cincuenta años cuando obtenías tu título y conseguías un trabajo y aprovechabas esos conocimientos para el resto de tu carrera, ahora todo avanza muy rápido, con nuevas tecnologías, metodologías y descubrimientos prácticamente a diario. Y para las mujeres de la ciencia este aprendizaje continuo no es sólo mantenerse al día sino sobrevivir en un entorno que no siempre es agradable y más en este país donde la ciencia no es muy valorada por eso nadie quiere estudiar estas carreras menos las mujeres que tienen más porcentaje de abandonar que los hombres ya que es muy absorbente y puede llegar a pasar lo que le pasó a mi amiga, que por cierto ella no es el único ejemplo tengo otras más en esa situación.
El formarse continuamente es super importante porque nos da herramientas y nos ayuda a tener confianza además que afianza las conexión yo siempre he dicho que puedes saber mucho pero en este mundo si no te sabes relacionar estás frito yo no sé mucho sobre eso jajajaja pero en algún momento tendré que aprender. Algo que me gusta es que hay muchas plataformas donde te puedes formar ya el conocimiento está más cerca y esto hace posible que podamos adquirir conocimientos técnicos que quizás antes era más difícil por temas de tiempo y espacio, ya no es necesario tener tsntoo dinero a estudiar en una universidad prestigiosa ya con los cursos y becas por internet puedes estudiar una carrera a tiempo completo y tener una formación de buena calidad en campos punteros y lo que más me gusta de estos programas es que entienden que las mujeres necesitamos algo más que formación técnica y es tener una comunidad, pertenecer y también contar con un tutor que nos guíe y ayude a avanzar profesionalmente.
Yo en la maestría tengo una tutora que es maravillosa, esa profesora está inmersa en el mundo de la ciencia y es reconocida, pide financiamiento porque eso es algo importante los trabajos de grado científicos son costosos por la cantidad de análisis y experimentos que hay qiue hacer, esta profesora conoce el medio y me di cuenta que no solo tienes que formarte sino elegir bien a tus tutores porque te ayudan a pasar esos retos a los que te tienes que enfrentar en una carrera de este tipo. Además de que necesitas mucha orientación y apoyo emocional, el intercambio de conocimientos y experiencias es vital y esa conexión segura entre tutor y alumno puede fomentar la confianza en uno mismo.
Lo triste de esto es que los científicos normalmente estamos tras bastidores y a las mujeres se nos hace más difícil, en las contribuciones a la ciencia muchas veces se pasan por alto nuestra colaboración, recuerdo la primera publicación científica donde estuve aparecía entre los autores como de quinta posición y era la que más había trabajado jajaaja y se supone que en la bibliografía debes aparecer por orden de contribución, aquí no fue así aquí aparecían todos los hombres primero y lo hicieron por cargo o por tiempo trabajando en ese lugar, pero bueno yo no sentí menos más bien eso me dio fuerza para abrirme y comenzar a investigar por mí cuenta, pero esto es algo que puede pasar a menudo y muchas mujeres se sienten a la sombra y terminan sintiéndose no reconocidas y abandonando el medio es que a veces no te da la gana lidiar con machistas.
Yo como tomo toda situación en la vida para aprender y fortalecerme lo que te puedo aconsejar es que siempre te estés formando, no importa el área donde estés yo siento que lo importante es el progreso individual y cuando las mujeres tenemos acceso a oportunidades de aprendizaje continuo, tutoría y desarrollo profesional, vamos a mejorar nuestras propias carreras y cambiar la cultura de los campos científicos desde adentro. Esas mujeres que han ganado premio Nobel en ciencia no alcanzaron el éxito de forma aislada sino que se basaron en el trabajo de generaciones anteriores y tuvieron acceso a oportunidades de educación que les permitieron superar los límites y hacer descubrimientos revolucionarios, para mí la formación continua es una esperanza que te ayuda a superar las barreras.

The world of science is no longer like fifty years ago when you got your degree and got a job and took advantage of that knowledge for the rest of your career, now everything is moving very fast, with new technologies, methodologies and discoveries almost daily. And for women in science this continuous learning is not only to keep up to date but to survive in an environment that is not always pleasant and even more so in this country where science is not highly valued, that is why nobody wants to study these careers, even less women who have a higher percentage of abandoning than men, because it is very absorbing and what happened to my friend can happen, and by the way she is not the only example I have others in that situation.
I have always said that you can know a lot but in this world if you don't know how to relate you are toast. I don't know much about it hahahaha but at some point I will have to learn. Something that I like is that there are many platforms where you can train and the knowledge is closer and this makes it possible for us to acquire technical knowledge that perhaps before was more difficult because of time and space issues, It is no longer necessary to have tsntoo money to study at a prestigious university and with online courses and scholarships you can study a full-time career and have a good quality training in leading fields and what I like most about these programs is that they understand that women need more than technical training and is to have a community, belong and also have a tutor to guide us and help us to advance professionally.
This professor is immersed in the world of science and is recognized, she asks for funding because that is something important, scientific graduate work is expensive because of the amount of analysis and experiments that have to be done, this professor knows the environment and I realized that you not only have to train yourself but also choose your tutors well because they help you to overcome the challenges that you have to face in a career of this type. Besides the fact that you need a lot of guidance and emotional support, the exchange of knowledge and experiences is vital and that secure connection between tutor and student can foster self-confidence.
The sad thing about this is that scientists are usually behind the scenes and women find it more difficult, in the contributions to science often overlook our collaboration, I remember the first scientific publication where I was I appeared among the authors as the fifth position and I was the one who had worked the most haha haha and you are supposed to appear in the bibliography in order of contribution, here it was not like that here all the men appeared first and they did it by position or by time working in that place, but well I did not feel less rather that gave me strength to open up and start researching on my own, but this is something that can happen often and many women feel in the shadows and end up feeling unrecognized and leaving the environment is that sometimes you do not feel like dealing with sexists.
As I take every situation in life to learn and strengthen myself, what I can advise you to do is to always be educating yourself, no matter what area you are in I feel that what is important is individual progress and when women have access to continuous learning opportunities, mentoring and professional development, we will improve our own careers and change the culture of the scientific fields from within. Those women who have won Nobel prizes in science did not achieve success in isolation but built on the work of previous generations and had access to educational opportunities that allowed them to push boundaries and make groundbreaking discoveries, to me lifelong learning is a hope that helps you overcome barriers.
