La semana pasada que tuve unos días libres en el trabajo por la Semana Santa y fui a clases de spinning con una compañera de trabajo, bueno ella es de otra unidad no trabaja directamente conmigo, ella pertenece al área de RRHH pero hemos hecho amistad, esa es una de las cosas buenas del trabajo la diversidad de personas que conoces. Yo me sentí de maravilla en el spinning y ella también, ella es ciclista y la clase estuvo ruda yo no la aguanté toda y ella al final también estaba cansada. La cuestión es que estábamos conversando de lo bien que nos sentimos y que definitivamente es importante hacer ejercicio, primero te sube el ánimo y segundo te permites comer tranquila y estar tranquila sin sentirte juzgada por los estereotipos sociales.
Y es que caímos en cuenta de algo, a las mujeres se nos exige mucho, se nos pide que estemos bonitas, tengamos la casa al día, trabajemos, estudiemos, no depender de nadie (siempre recuerdo esa frase mi mamá me la decía desde que estaba pequeña), seamos buenas madres, estemos pendiente de las mascotas, seamos amigas, ya me cansé de solo escribir esto y hoy solo quiero hacer un post para decirte que lo estás haciendo excelente, no caigas en las imposiciones u obligaciones de la sociedad, eres un ser humano valioso y por el simple hecho de ser mujer eres hermosa, eres capaz de dar vida, eres empática, eres excelente administradora, no tienes que competir con nadie, eres perfecta.
No es posible que yo me mire al espejo y critique mi cuerpo, más bien debería agradecer que funcione correctamente, de verdad que esta sociedad nos enseñó criticarnos, destruirnos y no amarnos, cuanto tenemos que aprender. Hay un psicólogo que yo sigo que el habla mucho a las mujeres y siempre dice que todos estamos rotos y es la verdad que difícil es para una mujer aceptarse, aplaudirse, quererse, porque nuestras madres muchas veces pusieron carga sobre nosotras para que fuéramos perfectas, y no estoy criticando a mi mamá porque para mí ella es una mujer admirable, pero estoy segura que sobre ella pusieron la misma carga, igual que sobre mi abuela y así es una cadena, porque a las mujeres se nos exige demasiado.
Como me gustaría tener un día de libertad sin que nadie necesitara algo de mí o me pidiera algo y no tengo nada en contra de los hombres porque tengo un hijo varón pero de verdad quisiera que las mujeres pudiéramos ser libres de tantos estereotipos y quizás así se acabara tanta diferencia, tanta malicia y tanta envidiada que algunas llevan por dentro, porque les enseñaron así, les enseñaron que esta vida es una competencia y que hay que ser perfectas, hay que maquillarse, peinarse, vestirse y arreglarse para ser más bonita que la otra, no hay que comer demasiado porque te pones muy gorda o hay que hacer ejercicio para que no estés flácida o con celulitis. Basta ya, quiero hacer ejercicio para disfrutar un tiempo para mí, quiero conversar con una amiga y reír a carcajadas sin que nadie diga así no se ríen las señoritas, solo quiero ser feliz y sentirme libre.
Después de esa clase y de esa conversación que tuvimos me quedé pensando mucho en todo esto y me prometí a mí misma que no me volvería a criticar y que cuando me mire al espejo lo voy a hacer con amor sin ver mis defectos y tengo estos días así, viéndome al espejo y sonriendo porque soy hermosa. Creo que estoy comenzando a despertar y a darme cuenta de que esta carrera hacia la perfección y complacencia del otro me está quitando alegrías, quedé con mi amiga a que fueramos un día a la semana al spinning y no para vernos mejor en traje de baño sino para disfrutar esa hora para nosotras, para bailar sobre una bicicleta y gritar que estamos bien y si podemos. Y esto es lo que quiero enseñarle a mi hijo que las mujeres de su vida no necesitan aprobación para existir, que su mamá siendo imperfecta está bien así, que no está mal que yo duerma un rato y la casa esté desordenada, que a veces lloro viendo películas románticas y otras veces me río tan fuerte que me duele el estómago, que no siempre estoy maquillada ni perfectamente vestida. Porque la verdadera belleza está en ser auténtica y en ser humana, así que hoy quiero despojarme de esa carga y ser feliz y poder llegar a muchas mujeres para hacerles entender que es mejor elegir la libertad de ser nosotras mismas y que las canas nos quedan hermosas así tengamos 40, elige amarte como eres no como el mundo espera que seas, porque te lo mereces y eres suficiente justo como eres hoy mismo. Last week I had a few days off from work for Easter and I went to spinning classes with a coworker, well she is from another unit, she does not work directly with me, she belongs to the HR area but we have become friends, that is one of the good things about work, the diversity of people you meet. I felt great in the spinning and so did she, she is a cyclist and the class was tough, I couldn't stand it all and she was tired at the end too. The point is that we were talking about how good we felt and that it is definitely important to exercise, first it raises your spirits and second you can eat calmly and be calm without feeling judged by social stereotypes.
We women are asked to be beautiful, to keep the house up to date, to work, to study, to not depend on anyone (I always remember that phrase my mom told me since I was a little girl), to be good mothers, to be attentive to our pets, to be friends, I am tired of just writing this and today I just want to make a post to tell you that you are doing excellent, do not fall into the impositions or obligations of society, you are a valuable human being and by the simple fact of being a woman you are beautiful, you are able to give life, you are empathetic, you are an excellent administrator, you do not have to compete with anyone, you are perfect.
It is not possible for me to look at myself in the mirror and criticize my body, I should rather be thankful that it works properly, truly this society taught us to criticize ourselves, destroy ourselves and not love ourselves, how much we have to learn. There is a psychologist that I follow who talks a lot to women and always says that we are all broken and it is the truth that it is difficult for a woman to accept herself, applaud herself, love herself, because our mothers often put a burden on us to be perfect, and I am not criticizing my mother because for me she is an admirable woman, but I am sure that they put the same burden on her, as they did on my grandmother and so it is a chain, because we women are demanded too much.
I would like to have a day of freedom without anyone needing something from me or asking me for something, and I have nothing against men because I have a son, but I really wish that women could be free of so many stereotypes and maybe that way so much difference, so much malice and so much envy that some women carry inside would end, because they were taught that way, they were taught that this life is a competition and that you have to be perfect, you have to make up, do your hair, dress and groom yourself to be prettier than the other, you should not eat too much because you get too fat or you have to exercise so you are not flabby or with cellulite. Enough is enough, I want to exercise to enjoy some time for myself, I want to talk with a friend and laugh out loud without anyone saying that's not how ladies laugh, I just want to be happy and feel free.
After that class and that conversation we had I kept thinking a lot about all this and I promised myself that I would not criticize myself again and that when I look at myself in the mirror I will do it with love without seeing my defects and I have these days like that, looking at myself in the mirror and smiling because I am beautiful. I think I'm starting to wake up and realize that this race towards perfection and complacency of the other is taking away my joys, I agreed with my friend to go one day a week to spinning and not to look better in a bathing suit but to enjoy that hour for us, to dance on a bike and shout that we are well and if we can. And this is what I want to teach my son that the women in his life don't need approval to exist, that his mom being imperfect is fine the way she is, that it's okay if I sleep for a while and the house is messy, that sometimes I cry watching romantic movies and other times I laugh so hard my stomach hurts, that I'm not always made up or perfectly dressed. Because true beauty is in being authentic and being human, so today I want to shed that burden and be happy and be able to reach many women to make them understand that it is better to choose the freedom to be ourselves and that gray hair is beautiful even if we are 40, choose to love yourself as you are not as the world expects you to be, because you deserve it and you are enough just as you are today.
