I read somewhere once that our lives are tales, waiting to be told. Also, we are actors on a stage of life, performing for an audience. Often, I let these sayings guide my decisions and actions because someone somewhere is watching.
The New Year celebration is an occasion we eagerly look forward to with much exhilaration but on the flip side, it's a time for deep reflection. Often we get distracted. We are torn between quiet contemplation and exuberant revelries. Which do we choose, for it's an almost impossible task to do both at the same time?
One thing remains constant as Melody Beattie rightly captures in her quote, every new year is a new chapter in the stories of our lives, waiting to be written. For a budding story writer, I know what it takes to imbue my stories with thrilling plots and settings, and my characters with likeable attitudes. Before penning down the words that gain readers’ attention, the bulk of the job would have taken place in our minds.
Immediately I read Melody Beattie's quote from my mail this morning, I fell into a reflective mood. A new chapter awaits each of us and we alone can determine what to fill the pages with. But first, a deep thought of what the content of the chapter will hold is essential.
2024 is another (of many) opportunity to embrace a fresh beginning to script our lives anew. I'm excited for the amazing things this year holds. I can't wait to start filling my chapter with thrilling words that hopefully inspire others.
Is January 1st Any Different From Other Days?
Now I'm thinking: why do we give special attention to the first day of every new year and treat it differently from other days? This makes many people come up with the popular “new year resolutions” and before the month is over, they are either broken or forgotten. Then life goes on.
I don't mind the celebrations—everyday should be celebrated, that's my belief. We mustn't wait until the first of January before making resolutions or trying out new things or changing our lifestyles.
Every day is a chance to do something new, to live differently and intentionally.
I've read some posts on the 2023 farewells, and welcoming of 2024 and the plans for the year. I'm psyched for this new year too but I'll continue with the goals I'd already set sometimes last year, while making new ones everyday. I don't want to burden myself with new resolutions that I might end up not fulfilling.
However, setting new goals for the year is great and what's even greater is the determination to stick to them. Rather than make a habit of forming new resolutions every first January, I prefer focusing on the ones I've made and probably making new ones when I'm almost done achieving the old ones.
I'm glad this blockchain is still standing and a fine place to keep penning my thoughts and exploring my writing skills. May this new year bring us more than we hope for and in the best possible ways.
Happy New Year to you all! 🥂
